i want to start my own business

Arn't you the one that has all kinds of money saved up? Shouldn't be that hard. I took my income tax refund one year bought a pick up for 1300. At that point all I owned was that truck. Went to work for a guy doing a house rehab worked for 2 weeks dropped most of that on tools. Kept working for him part time and set out on my own for the rest of my time. Slowly built up, 5 years later I got a 10k truck I don't owe a dime on, over 10k in tools, steady income and money in the bank. About to buy my first house. Its not rocket surgery. That is unless you want to work on rockets for a living.

Don't let these guys worry you, you don't have to be 100% legit from the beginning, no one cares about the little guy, just don't do anything stupid. Most small business owners are risk takers with a propensity to break the law. If thats not you, the odds are against you. With all the government bureaucracy these days its about impossible to do every thing right.

I was thinking about my exit plan the other day. I'd like to have an antique ice cream truck, and I could drive around ringing my truck bells, and selling ice cream.

Fun fact... When I was about 2 I had no concept of money, and thought the ice cream truck just gave away ice cream. I got my order from the guy, and took off into the house. He just kept going, and my mother paid him on the next pass through.

If I'm rich when I retire, I might just drive around and give away ice cream. That's how the world should work :^D

i actually really do want to start my own business doing some kind of software company. my buddy and i really want to and he's great on the sales side of stuff. the only problem is neither of us really know "how to start a business" or have any of that background. we also don't have a 100% focused goal as to what kind of software business we want to start.

oh and the fact that i just had a kid and my wife isn't working right now, we kind of need money, and i know most businesses won't be pulling in a lot of dough if any, right at the beginning. but with software, it would be very easy to at least start it on the side. i already do mobile stuff on the side, but don't make even CLOSE to enough money to make that a full time job. it's more just fun money that goes directly to my savings and over time it builds up to a little something.

i entered some in contests but i only got published once and i didnt get any prize money just a certifecate and i had to pay 60$ to buy a copy of the book of winners

And you thought that waiting an additional 4 years to do this was a good idea? Everyone and their mother is doing this, and very, very few people "earn" a sustainable income. Why don't you try to start a business in a trade. I know a guy that started mowing lawns and now makes $350k/year through his landscaping business. There are similar stories for all sorts of trades and skilled labor.

Or, go back to school and pick up a professional degree.

you get paid based on how many people see the ads. it's pretty simple.

the amount of capital needed is depending on what business you want to do.

start a biz is not for everyone and you really need a business idea.
