I, too, was very disappointed when I saw what this thread was about. I want to start smoking (cigarettes, not food), but I have disdained those who do for so many years that I have no clue how to go about it!

I have been super stressed out lately, and I'm sick of hanging out with other family members who, whenever they are stressed, pull out a smoke and feel much better.

I've tried booze, but I don't enjoy the tired/not-quite-so-sharp feeling I have every morning and you can't drink at work or during the day, so it's not really working for me.

So it seems like smoking would be the next best thing.

Should I start my own thread?

If anyone have any ideas, could you please let me know?

Thanks

While cigarettes do offer stress relief, once you start getting addicted wouldn't the cravings cause more stress?

Only if you don't smoke to get rid of the craving

For a smoker I'd go with a electric, much easier IMO to control temp and don't have to mess with coals.

Plus you get the great smoked flavor with the chips anyway.

Win, win IMO.

This one.

I don't see why someone would choose to smoke cigs over reefer to get rid of stress.

Brinkman Electric Smoker

I've owned this for a little over a year. Its a good beginner smoker and the electric makes it easy to use. Only issue I have with it is that the lid does not seal tightly so you have evaporation and smoke loss.

We are looking to upgrade but don't want to pay the $750 for a Traeger and want to stick with electric.

Look up a UDS "Ugly Drum Smoker" on Youtube. I built one. Really easy, and you can control the heat really well.

Also called Ugly Barrel Smoker.

interesting. a hot plate in a flower pot seems a lot easier though but i do like the rig. no idea where in hell id get a drum around here. my dad has a pig cooker on wheels made out of a huge oil drum. its pretty sweet but smoking with it would be a bitch, as theres not really a good way to set up any wood to smoke it.
