What are you going to call yourself once overclocking has been banned? NVGuy?Somehow I think Intel will make it out of this thread unscathed.

IMO you need a contingency plan for when NV goes out of business. At that point I have no idea what you should call yourself. ()I don't really come up with contingency plans for things that are never going to happen. That would waste a lot of time.
The lack of overclocking on the platform killed it for me. Why should I pay $200+ for a "K" chip that can overclock, when I can get a Phenom II and a motherboard for $140? I did just that and am running happily at 3.8ghz.
I just don't understand Intel. To me, this just proves that they do not care about the enthusiast market.
I would have waited for Bulldozer but the Black Friday deal I got was too good to pass up on.
Not so. e5400, e5500 overclock. prices $60-70.Well come on pretty much any Intel chip you want to O/C costs $200. Whether it's a i920, i950, i870, even the i5-655k, they all cost about that much. Now you get unlocked multipliers for that price.
But if you want a $50-80 CPU that overclocks, I guess Intel is telling you to go ahead and buy an AMD. I suppose that's a market they are no longer interested in serving.
You know I almost jumped on an i3 CPU so I could overclock it to 4.6ghz. I'm thinking the new i3's will hit 5ghz plus they would be 10% faster per clock.Well come on pretty much any Intel chip you want to O/C costs $200. So long as Intel won't let me overclock mainstream CPUs, I'll be sticking with AMD.
That's what I meant when I said I don't think Intel cares about the "enthusiast" market any more. IMO it's arrogant and will cost them in the long run.
We need a new socket so that the IGP can work i believe, the exact same reason AMD is going with a new socket AM3+ for bulldozer. You cant add something as complex as a powerful IGP on die to a CPU and not change the socket.
