That is how my textbook and materials say. Search google. I find close to 6 thousand websites with each spelling. Didya ever think it was sort of a honor/honour thing? Nah, because you didn't know what it was to begin with! You just proved that you had no clue, because it has taken you this long to even take an issue with what I said. Secondly, you are ignoring the links.

repay a beating with a beating ... then make out with his daughter right infront of his busted up ass. Assault lawsuits are for the weak who can't stick up for themselves. Go over there and beat some sense into that guy.

and hopefully the guy will have a gun and shoot this punk kid in self defense. the kid who started this thread is a punk kid and a great reason more parents should discipline their kids. this is where society has come folks, where a punk kid gets busted for sneaking out some dude's daughter, gets a toy thrown at him and has the audacity to want to sue the guy. you don't deserve anything but a smack in the mouth. and finnkc, you are retarded. that's all i can say. how is throwing a toy at someone a beating? you too are a punk kid who falls into the same catagory as amdforever2. i can assure you that you got off easy. if it was my daughter (when she's old enough to date or whatever you want to pretend you weren't doing) you'd be wishing i'd thrown a toy firetruck at you.

god i feel like red dawn. i must be getting old.

Personally I would just let it be ... just carry a hasp or brass knuckles with you. So if the bastard does come for round 2 he will guaranteed be sitting round 3 out in the emergency room.

I agree he probably did something to call the Dad on but who knows ... at least next time he will watch his back for a jumping.

and to you (post above me) do you know me? Because I could have sworn you did by the way off analogy of me you just posted. I don't go looking for fights or even try and egg a fight on its pointless. But if I get jumped or attacked for some reason I fight until me or the other guy is dialing 911.

Actus reus is correct. It isn't an honour/honor situation because adjectives and nouns in Latin must agree in case, number, and gender. It's more of a "We was"/"We were" situation.

Not that it's a big deal, anyway, but it's something to keep in mind for the future. Understanding the concepts of actus reus and mens rea is more important than knowing how to spell the words.

Anyone else feel amdforever2 would make the perfect posterboy for either a PW'D or example of why you should use birth control poster?

As I said, please search google. Would you like a picture of my two textbooks? They used actus/mens rea.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%22actus+rea

I am not doubting what is TEXTUALLY correct in Latin.
I am doubting that nan0bug knows what the fvck he is talking about, and I also stick by my statement that my textbook uses actus rea and not reus.

I don't doubt that your textbook says it, but it's still wrong--"actus reus" is the term used by the courts. Cornell has a searchable database of Supreme Court cases, if you're interested in checking it out.

It might be a point you could bring up to your teacher or to the textbooks' publishers.

hahaha. You should be thanking the father for only throwing a firetruck at you. I would have sent you to the hospital for pulling crap like that. Let this be a lesson to you.

You guys give the girls father WAY too much credit. he was reacting violently out of his inability to control the situation. the fact that his daughter went out without his permission (whether or not that was a reasonable demand on the part of the father is still up to question) the fact that his daughter was alone with a strange guy (tho she wasn't struggling or fighting or anything). so he loses his temper and takes it out on the boy.

is that the ONLY possible scenario?? NO, but it is a hella more likely than the kinda cr@p some of you are spewing.

the father lost control and did the wrong thing. he physically attacked a minor and it was NOT in self defense OR in the defense of his daughter.

i say call the cops.

Well, let's see... if I was a parent and had a 15 year old daughter, I'd be nervous about her dating an older guy in the first place. Then if she snuck out late to be somewhere with him, and I didn't know where they were or what they had been up to... well, just put yourself in his shoes...

What if he went to check on her for some reason and found her gone? And you haven't said anything about what was going on in the car... if I see my daugter coming back from sneaking out, making out with an older guy in his car... well, I probably wouldn't hit him. But I'd be pretty pissed and can't say (without hearing both sides) that I necessarily blame this guy for "assaulting" you (did it even hurt?).

On top of all that, it sounds like you were well-aware that she was sneaking out, which just isn't cool. It's disrespectful... and if you care at all about the girl then you should care about her parents' wishes (which to my knowledge werent' unreasonable). I can't believe you have the nerve to try to sue or press charges after this... that's about as logical as him pressing charges for kidnapping or something. Good lord... what you should be doing is apologizing for taking his daughter out past curfew.

I mean, damn, am I alone here or does anyone else hear crap like this and feel like society's on a downward spiral?

There is no curfew.

Therefore, I could not have taken her out after curfew.

I'm a minor too. How do minor's kidnap other minors?

And once again, no romantic reason for us being out.

So I was taking this girl home and we stopped outside her house and her dad comes up to the car and hits me.

Sure, she wasn't supposed to be outside, sure, it was after curfew, but nothing can justify him hitting me.

So, how would one ensure their ability to sue the individual?

Do I need to file a police report and press charges or can I just sue?
Make up my mind here.

You MORON, HER CURFEW, RULE OF HER FATHER NOT THE TOWN.

Ylen13, if it were me 1) I doubt he'd be brave enough to go to the police 2) even if he did I would assure whatever was done would be done without witnesses and I'd have an alibi.

In perspective, I have once held someone by their feet (with another guy) over the 3rd floor of my high school. That kid did not tell a soul.

if the girl had left the house alone and come back alone, then the dad hit his own daughter, NO ONE would like that. but since this guy was nice enough to give transportation to a girl that decided on her own to leave, the dad has EVERY RIGHT to hit a kid he doesnt even know. sounds logical, no?
