The slowest thing in that laptop is 5400rpm HDD, otherwise it should be fine for your intended uses.

Well, it appears to be a higher-spec Stoney Ridge... I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I mean, not to rain on your parade OP, but... you probably could have done better. Like a Ryzen 3500U or 4600U, 1080P FHD screen, SSD, etc. (*List price for something like that would be $500-600, so if you could get a 50% off discount, that would make it worth it, IMHO.)

Was the 17" screen a requirement, or did it just happen to have that screen size? Because I can't say I've seen too many Ryzen 3500U laptops in 17" with 1080P screens, although I haven't looked.

That's not to say that your laptop is going to be bad or slow, it should have a nice display, and I'm using a Stoney Ridge A4-9120e (6W TDP) 2C/2T APU laptop (13.3" 1080P), as a daily-driver now, with a 128GB SATA M.2 SSD, and it's actually quite usable. Your rig is higher-spec APU-wise, but I wouldn't have purchased any laptop that didn't have an SSD these days. It shouldn't be too hard to swap out, I hope, if you're into that sort of thing, and feel like re-installing or cloning Win10 onto a SATA SSD.

Should be fine for that.

Sorry, I forgot that part. I apologize for being critical. It should be nice for your usages, and 17" screen, WHOA. I've never owned a laptop with a 17" screen, though I once helped my Mom buy one discounted at Staples.
