Why does everyone hate on CT? My family's from there and I love it. Old Saybrook is gorgeous, that whole area, Clinton, West Brook, Old Saybrook.

I concur.... Connecticut's great... Right in the middle of Boston and NYC... Great location, decent weather. What else could one ask for?

Lower taxes, better nightlife, shorter winter, a professional sports team to call our own...

I've been to NY (not NYC) and MA so it probably amounts to the same thing. I also live in a county that is 1.9 times the size of CT if that counts for anything.

Taxes are higher because it's affluent...you're right between NYC and Boston, what more do you want for night life? Live on the shore and the winter is REAL short, and everyone in CT likes the yankees and you lost the whalers because no one came to the games.
Everyone in Southern CT likes the Yankees, Northern CT likes the Sox. It made for some good times at the bars down there.
Being from Massachusetts, I can say that CT > MA by far. You're right about the coast areas being awesome, but if you visit the outlying hartford area or Willimantic your opinion of CT may change.
