If I were worth 114 billion dollars I'd like to think I could maybe hire a couple more employees.
On the other hand, in order to MAKE 114 billion dollars my brain would have to operate much differently than it does now

I love Amazon, and I love prime. The selection of products vs a B&M is no comparison.

I have better things to do than going around to stores only to find shitty products, if they happen to be in stock at all. Not too long ago everyone used to piss and moan about the big box stores and urban sprawl, now we p&m about Amazon who is doing the job 100x better.

That said, I think Amazon does need to be accountable for their impacts on their employees as well as the environment. No free rides, no winning by cheating.
Yea, the convince factor is huge, a few weeks ago I needed a small dishwasher part to keep my machine running, I checked locally and the sole place around here that sells appliance parts didn't stock it. Other online parts vendors had it but Amazon had it at about the same price and free 2 day shipping.

It's not Amazon or any other company, but the self-centered selfishness of society that demands that they want everything now, and they want it cheap.

Do drivers in the states not have mandated car insurance with liability coverage? Unless you can somehow prove a company is asking its employee's break the law or something of the sort how does a road accident ever go past insurance?

chicken and egg. i was fine waiting for things before prime existed. i suspect lots of people were, but given the option between sooner and later - all else being equal - why not get it sooner?

edit: i will add that one major plus amazon has is selection. i bought an airbrush. it uses a different air connection than what i have. my local hobby store does not have the appropriate adapter. i could probably search for miles before finding a B&M store that has one in stock, or i can just check amazon (it does).

State mandated liability coverage is often ridiculously low. The issue is Amazon is using these fly by night companies to limit their own liability while also exerting price pressure on their contractors, which passes down to poorly inspected and maintained vehicles, poorly trained drivers, and horribly overworked and underpaid drivers.

Yes, Capitalism inherently tries to scrape by as close to slave labor as humanly possible.

This isn't an Amazon thing, it is an American thing. And its a pretty big deal in terms of our problems, but it is also hugely complex and with no small solution.

As far as I can tell, the average consumer wants it as cheaply and as quickly as possible. Very few will ever care about who gets hurt, as long as they get their stuff.

Food is the same way, most look the other way at the atrocious way animals are treated, but still look for the cheapest prices at the store. I think I have more sympathy for the animals, actually. People at least have a fighting chance to alter their circumstances.

I got rear ended by a gardener driving a pick up truck and by a soccer mom driving a minivan. I will never look at gardening and parenting the same way, ever.

You sure sound sore. Are you?
