Do people who valet not take pictures of their odometers?

Was a valet for 5 years, never. The joy ride never lasts for more than a mile anyway.

Well, except for that one time the valet stole a mustang....

When you order bottle service at the clurb (not misspelled, just 'properly' pronouncing it), and the bottle shows up open; they filled it up with cheap shit and it's not the Belvedere vodka you ordered.

Furthermore, the bottles with the shooting sparkles at the mouth of the bottle? Yarp - swapped booze again. The sparkler is there to get you to not realize you are being serviced an opened bottle with swapped booze.

You must work at some really shady clubs. The ones I've been to typically don't open the bottle until they get to your table.

And really? They sell bottles at 1000%+ markup. They really can't afford $20?

That's because there's one major company in Italy that bought up all of the glasses companies....they own Lenscrafters and a bunch of the ready in an hour shops too...it's a vertiacally integrated money making machine that crosses continents. If you can buy frames made in China, you're actually doing a good thing by promoting competition in a very bleak marketplace.

Luxottica.

that's actually what makes me angriest about bottle service - I'm already dropping 600 fucking bucks on this bottle, you can't just give me grey goose instead of ciroc?

They aren't doing this because they can't afford it, they are doing this to rip the customer off.

It's also illegal in NYC to pour booze into an opened bottle - even if the booze is the same.

Some places even get fined for pouring water into an empty bottle, for the purposes of practicing free pour (you are going to practice with water, not actual booze).

But, yeah, if a place is serving open bottles, don't order table service.

on one of the latest episodes of bar rescue, they did the math/science on why bottle service is so expensive. it was interesting to hear exactly why it costs as much as they do.

it was really basic and a "duh" moment when i heard the reason, but the reason it costs that much is because in order for them to make more money selling it as a bottle instead of individual drinks, they just have to make it up that much.

16.9 shots in a 750ml bottle. Say 16 shots for spillage, waste, etc. Typical shot at a club is $10. So at the bar they are making $160 off that bottle they bought in bulk. A lot of times liquor companies give cases for free to get their liquor served at the club/bar.

You're paying for the privilege to be "VIP".

I don't have a qualm with paying 600 bucks for a bottle at a table, I get it. but for 600 fucking bucks give me the good shit.

Ding ding!

You are also paying for the socialization, the music, etc. When you are paying $8 for a beer, $11 for a 1 & 1/2oz of vodka & cranberry and $10 for 1 & 1/2 oz of agave Tequila - you are 'buying' the space to drink these things in. Little of it goes back into the actual cost of the drink. You can drink all these things a home or a house party for far less.

Basically, bars are a rip off. Even during happy hour "discounts". Bars cater to humanity's need to socialize and show off while getting drunk.
