Yes, this is a post about the peformance of a modem, which is a piece of hardware. I'm posting it here because I am specifically interested in its Win2K performance, etc. :-D
My old DiamondSupraExpress 56K ISA modem has issues with Win2k. I can sell it to a friend who desperatly needs a decent hardware modem (really crappy phone lines...too far from the phone station I think), so it is not a complete loss... I want to get a Diamond SupraExpress 56K external serial modem because the ISA one was really good (until I switched to Win2K).
I can get one for $80 from buy.com - http://www.us.buy.com/retail/product.asp?loc=101&sku=10020169
My question is not only "is this a good modem?" but "is this modem good under win2k?" And yes, I have checked NT Compatible. It did offer some useful info, but not enough...
I will primarily be browsing the web and downloading stuff with this modem, tho online gaming is not out of the question.
I am running Win2K with SP1, DX8 and the latest compatibility update on a P3 and a Soyo-made Via 133A based motherboard.
...thanks...
