Gurck-
i am not claiming to have never judged anyone, i just feel like it is completely unfair that everyone is so freely judging someone they don't know. and i do know that it is human nature to judge a person on how they look, i do it everyday. but i don't start a thread on the www about it.
and i do not intend to ever try to change anyone else's behaviour. i would have much better luck working on myself, and so would everyone else.

you are absolutely right, i have been treated differently because i am a woman. when i get to the cash register at a computer hardware store, 9 times out of 10, the guy asks me if i know what it is that i just set on the counter, and if i know what to do with it.

I think people are reading way too much into this thread. Too many people are trying to draw parallels to their personal lives, and are taking this thread as a way to vent their frustration with their personal issues.

Fundamentally, this thread is about armatron asking his significant other to change. Couples try to adapt and change in a relationship, whether it's a personality change, a physical change, or a change of habits. Is it really so wrong to ask for a change from your significant other? Must one party always suffer in silence for fear of hurting the other's emotions? If there is an aspect of your partner that you don't like, then I feel that tactful communication is the best response.

Don't think for a second that you will never ever try to change someone else's behavior. When you ask your husband to help with the dishes, you are trying to change his behavior. When you ask your child to finish his veggies at the dinner table, you are trying to change his behavior. It is the ability to both change and request change that keeps people together; it's the inability to do so that breaks people apart.

lol @ this thread. the funny part is, i have seen quite a few people in it, whining about how they can't get a woman, or keep one, and yet, they talk like they have the option of being so picky.

funny funny stuff.

You may as well try to will yourself to grow ten feet tall as try to change and/or deny the existence of basic human instincts to judge as soon as possible, which means often on sight, and to prefer health & fitness in prospective mates. Sounds like the OP is holding up his end of the bargain by exercising, and that his g/f is slacking. But according to half the people in this thread, he should remain silent or even encourage her weight gain, though it goes against millions of years of evolution... He shouldn't be happy until she's a huge sweaty porker with hygeine issues who can't fit out the door and will develop hypertention, diabetes, and/or heart disease at a young age :disgust: Get a grip people!! This may come as a shock, but you're not perfect! No one is. Those few extra pounds you're carrying around are not beneficial, anyone with less is not unhealthily skinny! I think it's about time we learn the word "responsibility" The degree to which people have rationalized being overweight and not even looking in the direction of the *concept* of self-responsibility in this thread makes me want to heave.

I'm just dumbfounded so many women even on this forum fall into that stupid "I'm so pathetic, the whole universe thinks I'm fat and is out to undermine my self esteem" trap. Do you enjoy sitting around being societies' big victims? Do you some how get off in placing yourself into a position of helplessness?

Melly, KerriAnn, I'm talking to you. Of course the whole world will judge you by outside appearance. Thats the way it is and I'll give birth to a full grown blue whale well before it ever changes. Some will love the way you look, others will abhor it...but neither really gives them any control over your feelings of self worth. I was depressed and defeated like that too...when I was 13! I grew the fvck out of it and accepted myself, flaws and all. I strive to fix the flaws that I can, and accept those that I can't. If I were you, I'd do the same.

This whiney crap is annoying and fruitless.

Wrong... My past two gfs both had very flat stomachs. One was 5'7" with 32Bs, the other was 5'2" with 34Cs.

And if you call those curvy tits you are wrong...38 C here.

Please don't be dissing your smaller chested sisters Melly

No,the way many here totally rip others to shreds because they don't look like fashion models and then whine because they can't seem to get a date is what's wrong.

Of course not. But that doesn't mean we're totally in love with those few extra pounds either. Don't tell me anyone here hasn't thought there were a couple things on their SO they might like to be a little different. That doesn't mean you don't love them or would leave them, it just means they aren't perfect. But who's perfect?

people talking about a 5ft 10 inch tall woman as if she were about to morph into a 350 pound pig at an estimated weight of 140 is what I'm talking about.

No,we'd never leave them, instead we can complain about those imperfections on internet forums and ask total strangers for suggestions on how to get them to fix things to be more to our liking.

It's a very real possibility. Now out of 270 posts you should be able to find and quote at least one instance of someone "ripping someone to shreds" over being 15 or fewer pounds overweight.. right?
