Hey guys,
Just wondering if a 2500k without overclocking would bottle neck a amd 290 gpu at 1080p? Thanks

Yup, agree with the others. Overclock that beast, it's easy. I'm at 4.5Ghz on my 2500k at about 1.316 volts using the "offset voltage" option.
The short answer is yes in some games. However, the "k" after the 2500 means you can legitimately OC the 2500k. Frankly the 2500k should be in the CPU Hall of Fame as an early inductee. An outstanding chip even today.Hey guys,

He cab even go up to 5.0 or 5.3 if he is lucky, but for speeds beyond 4.5 Ghz, he needs an special cooler or beyong 4.9 Ghz a Water cooler.I can cap out at 60 fps on my 4.5 ghz 2500k in the majority of games with a 290, but certain games do suffer from the CPU (Fallout 4 is the big one here).
At 3.3 ghz you are probably running into that bottleneck a lot more often.
I would definitely suggest overclocking. Those 2500ks are insanely easy and friendly to overclock. With my current one I could just turn the multiplier to 40, and change nothing else, and it was 100% stable. Getting to 4.5 took a little more doing but really hardly that much at all. There are plenty of guides out there.
