Isn't that a contradiction? Might as well do the Intel marketing trick and limit it to 4.5W while competing with a core m.

Have seen one of those rare 6920HQ WPrime benches at 4GHz while using a -80mV offset vs a 6820HK at 4GHz with a -60mV offset.

The 6920HQ Intel estimated pkg power was 70W vs 49W for the 6820HK
Interesting, didn't even know about the 5820HK. Is it unlocked, then? What do you attribute the difference in heat production to? Were they scoring identically on benches?

Batteries are heavy though :/

Here's the new Dell XPS weight below. So basically less than a half a pound difference and probably a significant portion comes from the touch display and not the bigger battery. OEMs also tend to add the bigger batteries to the configurations that cost more i.e. you have to also add core i7 quad etc. to get the bigger battery. They don't want you to have that separately. They want you to pay for the more expensive options. Same goes for gpus. You never see 965m/970m in non-gaming laptops because they want you to buy their gaming platform despite those gpus giving more bang for buck.

"Starting at weight: 3.9 lbs (1.78kg)4 with 56Whr battery, SSD and non-touch display; 4.4 lbs (2kg)4 with 84Whr battery, SSD and touch display"

1024M bench run about 1 second apart IIRC and completed in around 165 seconds.

6820HK unlocked and 6920HQ has 6 extra bins. Of course there's the possibility of bclk OC'ing I guess.

Early days, however you can read and make your own conclusions here.

Neither of these statements is true.

Really? Why does battery life drastically increase if you decrease brightness? And I already showed that the batteries don't add a whole lot to even notice, especially the newer ones. Do you think the XPS is too heavy?

Right, but it's still stupid. Much of the battery life is taken by the screen, not the CPU, and it's not costly or weight burdensome to add a higher capacity battery.

It's true the mobile chips haven't had much performance boost, but efficiency goes up each generation. The 2xxx series laptops also get pretty hot. Ivy bridge 3xxx seems to have fixed it for most laptops. Has well 4xxx has almost no heat issues as long as there is a small fan. You can't really feel the chassis warm up. Broad well and skylarks barely has any improvements especially with the U series in performance. Battery is getting nicer, but that has more to do with the laptop design which all brands are trying to improve battery. Ala look at MacBooks, they have same battery life throughout the generations.
