(old great cpu cooler .... but perfect compatible with lga1155 !)
can be enough for cooling well the i5 ivy bridge 3570k...
and maybe(maybe ) do little overclock (nothing extreme...)

h**p://zalman.co.kr/eng/product/Product_Read.asp?idx=156

at the time of its age,was a great cpu cooler....

Probably better than the stock cooler but nothing near what you could do with a cheap heat pipe heatsink you could buy these days. 4.0GHz is possible but don't quote me on that, it could be more or less than what I've stated.

Get it and try it, I presume you already have the cooler and I see no reason it won't be ok at stock.

It could cool Prescotts with a 115W TDP without much issue. IB has a TDP of 77W, so I would assume it can handle it.

OVERCLOCKERU

You go by the TDP straight up with ivybridge, because the die is so small. It requires a more hefty cooler despite a lower TDP

After testing periods for max OC and whatnot, most of my CPU settle with those blow-down HSFs. Zalman 7700 is a massive upgrade over stock intel HSF and surely will keep your 3570k and its VRMs cool

I have the cnps7700-alcu. Maybe I should try it on a G620 I am building. I was going to use the stock heatsink from my 2500K, but after reading this I may not. I am using a Corsair A50 on my 2500K. Do the stock parts from an old Zalman 7700 work or do you need to order an adapter?

Looks like you need a ZM-CS5B adapter to make it work. I don't think I do as I remember using this heatsink on a Opteron 144.

I have one of those bad boys on my old socket 939 x2 4600 machine, it is still going strong after 5 or 6 years of abuse.

I have a 7700 . . . I wouldn't expect much from it. It's never done anything to impress me, that's for sure. Mine struggles to keep Pentium Dual Cores (e5200 and e5400) under 40 at idle when overclocked a little bit. Frostytech shows it being just a little better than the stock Pentium D cooler, and WAY behind any of the more contemporary tower style coolers. I know their testing methodology rubs some people the wrong way, but their results match up pretty well with my experiences on the twenty or so coolers I've used that they have listed.

Nevertheless, I wish you luck with it!

HAHAHAHAH.. 4x4 isn't good for overclocking. but oh well.

Um.. you can use the 212 for sure, they're not nearly as wide as some of the other monsters out there.

You can use wider coolers if you don't use Push/Pull fan configuration. Make sure not to use Pull-only with the single fan, because that gets terrible temps.

Trust me, the 212+ , idk bout evo, is thin enough vertically to not touch the memory slots.

I checked the measurements myself via photoshop.

I'm assuming the motherboard in the manual is drawn to scale.

If not, then my measurements would be off.

Don't know why not....haven't been hampered in any way with OC'ing several cpus with all the memory slots on the board occupied, including an old X58 mb w/an i7 920, a Z68 board with a 2500k/2600k, or a Z77 board with a 2600k/3570k. With each setup, I had all the slots occupied and that did not hamper my OC's at all.

Man, I was really curious how it would do with the zalman. Can you run it with only 2x4gb until you get a new heatsink?
