So, recently started doing some more aggressive overclocking with the system in my sig. Had a 3.36 oc on stock voltages and wanted more. Brought it up to 3.8 w/ nominal voltage increases, turbo off and ran Intel Burn Test 2.5 with real temp up to monitor temperature. Ran 1 pass on standard, temps went to roughly 80c. On max they got even higher into the 90+ area. Seems really high for a pretty standard i5 overclock. Brought voltages back to stock and turned it down to 3.5 with turbo on. Slightly lower but still 80-90c. Way high even for a lower end aftermarket cooler.
I'm thinking it may be a thermal grease problem. Used the TT grease that came with the cooler about a year ago.
Would some arctic silver solve this or am I missing something here? My idle temp is currently 44c and the minimum was 40. This is at 3.5ghz with stock voltage, turbo on.
