Dear god, I think half of the pictures or descriptions are wrong.

the Gigabyte UD3R - specs say 2 PCI slots, board shows 4?

EVGA Board: Networking 10/100 Fast Ethernet Network with tripple channel memory (but with 4 dim slots)???

What??


The only boards I'd consider are the ones < $180 Anything more is just too much.

I'm going to wait for USB3.0 and SATAIII to be released, integrated into the system chipset, before I upgrade platforms from S775. No reason to jump ship now, and then be stuck with slower IO 2-3 years down the road, when everyone else has 600MB/sec SSDs.

I can't tell if your being sarcastic - but if you are, there isn't such thing as x55, and no, p55 doesn't support tripple memory (or rather socket 1156 doesn't).

Thats kind of what im thinking as well with both things to be out in the next few years. Im still using my s939 with my x2 3800 and i was about to splurge on an i7 system. Then I realized i only wanted it to be able to say I had it. I dont game much anymore and Im only excited for MW2 and starcraft but my system will be able to run it on medium or at minimum low.

I sold my old set up that gave me the money for a new set up.
When USB 3.0 comes out I will sell this set up to fund that set up.

I really think the x55 is just a little bastard to offer something cheaper.

The intel x5880 motherboard has 4 memory slots but supports triple channel memory. There's a few other mb's for socket 1366 that only have 4 memory slots as well.

socket 1156 only supports double channel memory. *shrug*

Moore's law = causes early adopters to spend more money than everyone else every 18 months or so

Yep I upgarded my video card and cpu on my 775 (965P) board. Should hold me for another year or 2. By then even better will be out and maybe more software to put all this new CPU/Video power to good use.

the p55 doesn't support triple channel... period... the x58 does support triple channel.. period. side note.. you can run dual channel in x58, though it does support triple channel

that won't happen

Some might drop a small amount more but then they will be discontinued. If you are waiting for a cpu to drop to ridiculous low pricing, check for AMD cpus.
