I didnt think the 4930K was out yet?? and the deal for the E5-2670 is through a local computer shop which i am friends with the owners son of who got back a faulty server... but the cpu checked out ok to be working and was offered to me for a discounted price of around $500.
But I get no heatsink and no warranty on said item.
but like I said $500 for a $1400 cpu isnt so bad but if every ones telling me not to then im am listening.
I am very interested in the 4930k as well but the way I see it with the E5-2670 I will be a full generation ahead of everyone since I will be running a 8 core 16 thread cpu while everyone else is still stuck on 6 core 12 threads..
I have till tomorrow to make up my mind before it goes to the person so what should I do?? I dont wanna jump te gun but I dont want to miss out on a hell of a deal..

You sure this chip isn't ES? ~$500 seems to be the eBay price for the E5-2670 extra spicy.

Yeah, I was wondering if it was an ES, which would make it taboo.

If it's not, I just can't understand why the OP doesn't realize he's being handed $1500 for $500, and why that would be an f'ing no-brainer!

No, it means "Engineering Sample," property of Intel, and for you to obtain it would be a crime.

Extra Spicy is a joke play on the ES acronym.

It will say "Intel Confidential" on the CPU. As long as you inspect it beforehand, there's no problem.

I don't know why ebay allows it, since it's clearly illegal.

Also look for a code on the chip, four digits starting with a Q. Something like Q19D.

Intel i7 8320 for $270

Intel i7 3930K for $570

Xeon E5-2670 for $500.00
You can get retail 3930k's in the FS/FT section for much less than $500 let alone $570. i just got rid of mine with a motherboard for less than $500.......

That is my thought as well, and i'd avoid the ES versions of those chips. VERY buggy and not worth the headaches they create. Google will yield loads of info especially on the "cheap" 8 core chips like the Q19D.

I think it's pretty funny that if that E5 happened to be the real deal, you likely missed out on making many hundreds of dollars.

But the 4930K will definitely rock, so all's well that ends well.

Greed is what gets most people in trouble.

I think he made the right call.

The L5639 is an Awesome option for the 1366 platform! I've only had mine in my Asrock board for maybe 2 weeks. I'm only running it at stock but I love it!

How do you have your L5639 set up?

With 3x2GB of 1600Mhz G.skill memory
And only running it currently at 2.6Ghz cause I dont wanna push the heat issue.
It pretty much destroys anything I throw at it even at those lower clock speeds pretty cool stuff if you ask me..!!
Aww crap you know what, i just looked and its showing that I have windows 7 32bit installed?? how the heck did that happen I have windows 7 64bit installer disk??
Any way to chance this with out reinstalling windows cause now its saying I only have 2.95GB usable out of 6GB of memory..
I really dont wanna reinstall and waist another 2 hours installing and doing all the update crap...

Greed has no objective definition, as it is defined solely by other subjective terms, like excessive and rapacious. I buy things at lower prices than I sell them for every day, am I by extension, automatically greedy as well?

If you let the possibility of profit (or lack of expense) cloud your judgement on a purchase, yes. I've done the same. Saw something cheap (Ironically it was a Xeon 8 core) that I grabbed super cheap, then found out why it was super cheap.... It was a very early revision ES and was basically unstable at stock speeds. My plans to build a cheap server spiraled into a huge expenditure because I already had other parts on the way for said server. I then had to add a costly CPU on top of all the other parts because the cheap one was a dud, so in the long run it ended up costing way more than I planned.

I'll not continue this OT digression, other than to say your anecdote serves as good advice, and as a warning against poor judgement, yet says nothing about how we decide when to accuse each other of greed.

I never accused anyone of greed, just cautioned that one should not let the chance of profit cloud their judgement on a purchase.
