Running Vista 64 bit, my idle is around 34-37C, 8 instances of Prime95 64bit running, 100% load temp is 54C. I was wondering if this is a little too high? I expected more from this big bastard of a cooler I installed. I was planning on OCing, but if this is the temp at idle with no OC, I'm worried about beefin her up. Any suggestions?

Those temps are fine for now...but the Vigor Monsson III didn't work for me either, I had better cooling from my old Scythe Ninja. You could try a remount and make sure you don't have too much thermal between the chip and the Vigor.

You have a somewhat similar setup to mine. Your temperatures are just a smidge higher than mine. Depending on the room temperature, I tend to idle around 30C and get up to about 65C with 8 threads in Prime95 64-bit. That is with my system OCed to 3.6Ghz (3.8Ghz Turbo). Your cooler looks to be of a similar design to mine. What kind of thermal compound did you use? Are you positive it is seated well? Also, what speed do you have the fans on in your Antec 900? How you have the fans oriented can make a difference, too.

I don't think your temperatures are unreasonable at all for idle and load. You could probably bump your Bclk up a bit and not see any difference in temperatures. Maybe try 3.0Ghz and see how your temps are.

For thermal compound, I used Arctic Silver 5, even prepared the surface with Arctic Silver ACN-60ML (2-PC-SET) Thermal material Remover & Surface Purifier. As for being positive that is is seated well, as far as I know it is. Brackets, backplate, and cooler were all cranked down good, and used a grain of rice sized bead of Arctic Silver 5. The fans on my antec 900 are set up just as they come...all medium speed, the two 120's in front are bringing fresh air in, one 120 on the back exhausting, the 200mm on top pushing hot rising air up and out of the case. The one thing I have been thinking about is that the rear exhaust fan is right behind the monsoon. Could the monsoon be getting slowed down by trying to blow through the exhaust fan, even though they are both blowing in the same direction? Maybe I'll pull it off and see if the monsoon cools more efficiently.
