OK, I got one of the 48G drives a week or 2 ago from buy.com. It shipped as a bare (OEM) drive (which is what mwave has for $148). What do you get for the additional $39 if you get the &quot;retail&quot; version? A manual?

I just got the 75GXP 45G version from buy.com for about $156 by using the $30 off $150. The best part was I bought it 11:30 am on Monday and it got to me 7:30 am the next day (Cleveland, OH), standard ground shipping for somewhere around $5. I bought from mwave once and will never again make that mistake. If you're going to go for the drive, buy from buy.com.

When I bought from mwave, I had a shipping address and a billing address, which were across the country from each other. On their online order tracking system, the item I bought was listed with the shipping address = billing address. That was no good, so I changed it before they had sent out the item. After the change, their db listed that the item would be shipped to the shipping address. When it finally shipped, it was going to my billing address. I emailed and called every day to have them re-route the item to my shipping address, but they were unresponsive via email and it was impossible to get ahold of someone on the phone. The item finally ended up at the billing address and I had to have it shipped to my shipping address, and they wouldn't foot the shipping bill for their mistake.

So, like I said, if you're going to go for this drive, get it from buy.com. I got it less than 24 hours after I ordered it and only paid for standard shipping.

I've bought from mwave.com several times and have never had a problem. One time, my package did take about 2 weeks to get to me, but it was during the Christmas season, the same year as the UPS strike I believe, so they were pretty backlogged. Packages do take about a week or so to get to me from California (I'm in NJ) via ground shipping, but thats pretty much expected.

one of my boxes is raid0, about 300 gigs of drives in there. I notice &quot;minimal&quot; performance boosts from it over my other boxes with 5400 maxtors. What I was trying to say is that I would wonder why the guy would goto the trouble of setting up raid for minimal speed increases. And with 30 gigs, I doubt he'd be doing much swapping intensive work.

alot of the ppl on resellerratings come with extreme or particular circumstances such as what turkey says ( ship to, bill to add. isn't much of a circumstance, but it does differ from the norm and its understandable how they shouldn't have messed up). So I suggest ppl take these comments with a grain of salt and should feel safe ordering from most of the ppl on p watch.

Well, you wouldn't notice too much of a performance difference if you'r ejust doing everyday things. However, for graphics, video, and fileserving it does help speed things up a little. Especially video editing. =D
