My hard drive made it nearly 3 years without succuming to the click of death, but all good things must come to an end. Its a 45GB 75GXP and I'll send it in for RMA since the warranty ends in Sept., but I would really like to get my information off of it.
I ran the IBM drive utility and it said I needed to flash the drive firmware. I attempted to update it, but the boot disk gave an error when checking the drive. I stuck the drive in the freezer for about 8 hrs and quickly tried to flash it, which actually worked. But the drive still doesn't work and the new firmware hasn't changed anything.
Any ideas on how to recover my data before I give up?
