The PRO MAX version is supposed to be good, according to CNet review here.

The PRO Version is the same without the NTSC input I think. I'm not sure tho. Anyone got experience with it?

I just picked up one of the Pro Max models about a week ago and am quite satisfied with the quality. It comes with a bunch of software and you can get several more titles for $6.95 shipping as an option when you register.

The Pro Max was about $40 after rebate, and it may be worth saving the extra money if you don't think you'll need video capture for camcorders and the like, but $15 is cheap for that option if you think you'll ever use it. Both are available from Outpost.com with the same $50 rebate, free shipping and quality service.

I have this camera. I got it a while back through a PM with staples. In fact, you could probably try to PM with staples and use a coupon since outpost has free shipping.

This camera is really good. Good quality and framerate at 640x480. For $25 bucks, you're getting great bang for the buck!

regarding the PRO MAX, how's the vid capture part of the camera? crap, decent, good? does it drop frames? what res does it cap at? the site doesnt say.

I'd be interested in knowing how well the NTSC capture works too. Would it work for capturing TV (say recording The Simpsons) in good quality?

Haven't had a chance to use the NTSC video capture yet, but here is a page that covers some of the specs. I think 320x240 is the max resolution for NTSC capture as the capture button greys out when 640x480 is selected.

I don't think it's designed for recording the Simpsons, but rather for sending small video clips as email attachments.

The bump* should be for original post because I just spent 1/2 hour on phone with bestbuy and consensus was that deal $49.50-$50MIR+ship [PRO MAX]is untenable. Because the Rebate Link [although it mentions best buy stores] is not directly related to the bestbuy.com website and the item forsale. In other words, the webcam page doesn't have a "rebate" link. I would love to be corrected on this because I'd like to make the purchase w/rebate.
