Yes it does, and last week I just received my first firewire device; a Sony TRV22. I made a custom front firewire bracket for my case so accessibility would not be an issue.

I'm sure it supports XP, as for why they don't list it who knows.
When my card comes in I'll let you know for sure if it runs on XP, but considering it lists W2K I'm not worried.

yeah firewire rules,
got a $50 FAR card from crapusa a month ago. before, it was a pain for me to transfer files between my laptop and my destop because they both on WLAN, now i can hook up both using firewire. =) i'm happy, especially it's FREE.

now i'm all set to get an ipod and a digital vid cam

yeah, i'm running winxp and the os supports the firewire card natively

Looks like you did good except your link is broken. If you go to >Controllers>Firewire Card they have three different 1394 cards. $12.99, $13.00, and $14.94. All are listed as retail box with free shipping. The big bonus here is they have a couple that include a 6 pin to 4 pin cable to connect to your dig vid camera. Anybody used Computer123 before?
Link to their home page.

i went ahead and ordered from computer123.com from the link listed above. $12.99 + $2 insurance = $14.99 Seemed like a good deal especially because it included the cable and because it is a TI chipset (which seems to be prefered for ipods, which is why I got it)

What's the status of your order. Mine's still pending.

I ordered on from monoprice.com for $20 delivered price and it included the Firewire cable. Seems to work fine. $13 plus shipping. I used 3 day priority mail. Shipped the same day. About a buck cheaper without the priority chipping.

I ordered the $12.96 one on this page.. They have one for $10. I think it is just different software, but do not know.

Don't forget to check the box take off the tax if you are not in California.

If you're buying a firewire card look for one that accepts an internal power connector. This helps power firewire devices (e.g. Ipod).

If you have trouble with your XP install, you might try putting in a different PCI slot. Firewire devices in general are some of the most non-specific operating system compatible, which means it should work in XP, Mac or Linux, as long as the OS supports firewire. Firewire has some definite advantages over USB, primarily in the ability to run without a computer controlling it. I'm not saying you can connect a DV camcorder directly to a Firewire drive and expect them to work together without a computer, but at least this is a possibility with Firewire. With USB, you absolutely need the computer and the CPU, which is why Intel heavily supported USB and only reluctantly supported Firewire. Intel did not like the idea of a piece of hardware being able to operate without an Intel chip.

Agree. The Firewire interface on my Audigy card always shows up before ANY device driver is installed.
