IBM POWER3 Processors

Iwas just ogling IBM AIX workstations, and I am curious, is anyone familiar with the POWER3 processor? I don't even have a clue as to whether it is RISC, CISC, or whatever, though it looks as though it is probably a 64 bit RISC chip, anyone have any knowledge of these? (Link)

4mb of cache each, and a maximum of 8gb of RAM makes it a pretty big machine. That would make it about equal to what, a Sun E450 with only 4mb of cache maximum per processor rather then 8, and 8gb of RAM rather then 4? And those weigh over 200lbs each.

it's ibm's result of the power initiative. thus it's, in a way, related to the macintosh and tivo

these workstations are far from being small. They are freaky huge tower cases. I know, we have thema ll over work. They are quite powerful has well.
