I've bought desktop components from newegg.com before and they provided good customer service. Anyone here buy a notebook from them? I've heard newegg has dropped the ball on a couple of deals with other members here and I just wanted to ask before I kiss my money good bye. Does IBM honor the 3 year warranty? (The warranties I see on IBM's website are either standard or onsite. Newegg states 3 years...is it onsite?) Also, does anyone know if there is an internal floppy drive for the T41? I really don't want to lug around an external drive.

Here is the model I selected....IBM T41 = $1839.00

Anyone else know of a comparable spec'd notebook with built in floppy? Or is the T41 with external floppy my best bet?

Sorry for all the lame questions...thanks in advance.

Excelent lappy, great price, great retailer and the warranty is covered by IBM. The warranty will be the same warranty offered for that model on the IBM site

If you like it, jump on it. Who uses floppies anymore? Buy an external if you really think you need it.

Not much of a price difference from here... Model numbers are the same...

This is the model I would like to get, but I am trying to pay off some bills before laying out anymore money... Good luck with whomever you buy it from, as it seems to be a pretty nice laptop...

For that price difference I would order direct from IBM
Because with IBM you have a no questions asked 30day return policy
and with the Newegg one you can exchange only.

Well the one you link to is a
1.4 Pentium M
30GB HD
Radeon 7500

the above is a

1.6 Pentium M
40GB HD
Radeon 9000
but this is still a very good deal if you aren't even thinking about a game.

And don't forget that this deal is for Discover cardholders only. It'll make it hard for you to get the deal without a discover card

I got the $1499 Discover deal T41 this weekend from IBM. I called them up and placed the order with the rep. Used my Amex - told them straight out it's for the extended warranty. No prob; got the free battyer and shipping too.

I've read numerous people with the same results, so if you want the discover deal, don't let not wanting to pay with a discover card put you off.

edit for ambiguity on whether I bought from newegg or IBM. It was IBM

I went all the way through the ordering process on one of these, and it gives you the option for all major credit cards at checkout....

Don't IBM charge tax on top too from their site? Newegg deal is much sweeter.
