Deal from FW, did a search but didn't find anything:

Link is to IBM build-to-order page for R.

Make sure you choose the 1.3GB Pentium-M (Everything else would cost much more), XP Home, and SXGA+(1400x1050). Click "Continue" and you will get a price of $900.65.

Amazingly, if you chose XGA, It would be over $1300!

OK, the base configuration is P-M/1.3, 256/20, modem, NIC, CD-ROM, XP Home, free shipping, and free targus mobile essential kit. Note: R series has a base warranty of 1 year. additional two years costs $125.

The mobile essential kit include a nylon carrying bag (very padded and heavy), a wireless optical mouse, a notebook locking cable, and some ISDN extension wire.

Note this has a 1400x1050 resolution! Also note that this comes with a 16mb radeon 7500 card, so can't really use it for games, and that its about 6lbs.

Ooh I love 15.0" SXGA displays they're perfect if you like 1280x1024 on larger traditional monitors.

This is HOT but I wish it were an older T40 for the same price.

I have an R40 at the office, but it's the non-centrino 2.4ghz. Very nice machines. We have ordered a few dozen so far of them for our sales force.

when i select p-m 1.3, sxga is grayed out. when i select p-m 1.4, sxga is allowed, but the cost goes up to $1.3k.

go to fw and there is a link that will take you to a base config page that shows the 900 price...i did this about an hour ago

Did anybody get this notebook delivered ? I had so much trouble in getting it delivered (it isn't shipped yet) that I am curious if the others have similar experience with IBM shopping.

I finally got it delivered. (took more than two months to get them all delivered) The order arrived in three packages all from different locations. However the last one (the bundle carrying case) is from IBM national returns center and the package is a bit fishy to make me suspect if this is a customer return.

What shall I do with this ? Thanks.
