What IBM Thinkpad do you use currently and which one do you think will be your next one?

Now: 14" R50e
Next: any of the nicer ones: T42, X41 tablet, or really cheap used T40? Dual core doesn't seem that appealing as a Pentium M 1.5 is plenty fast for me.

14" T42p, as per signature.
My new 'gaming' machine.

I can't think of what I would need to upgrade from this model to, if not a desktop.
use an extra HDD in ultrabay, and it does everything I really need.

14 inch T42 currently. I don't think that I'll need to upgrade for a while, unless something breaks. I'm not the gamer I used to be, so I don't push my machines like I used to. I'll probably get whatever T series is current in another 4-6 years.

14" T40. You should get the T42, seems to be the most popular model out right now.

I'm going for whatever model will be current in about 2 years.

Currently: 14" T42
Future: Whatever is out and meets my needs when I need a new laptop (probably 2-3 years from now).

Right now, a 14" T43. Can't guarantee that my next laptop will also be a Thinkpad (those Asus' are tempting...), but if it is, I'll probably get whatever the tablet model is in three years, when the warranty on my machine gives out.

I have sitting in my office an x41 tablet, x41 non-tablet, z60m, z60t and a t43. I'm using the x41 tablet the most since it has the best battery life. The z60m is a bit big for my taste as is the t43. The z60t is a perfect midsize laptop and it rivals my Dell D610. Unfortunately the demo unit I have is only 1280x768, resolution is a little low for my liking. Hopefully I'll have some core-duo units as soon as demos start shipping. I'm hoping for a T60 within the next 2 months.

Now the fun part, making an image for these...gotta wait for a core duo unit though so it's still good in a few months.

My first Thinkpad was a 380D that thing is still chugging along with my 16 year old cousin using it to surf the net. Then came a T23 then my current x31 which I love to death.

15" R50e and loving it (especially the Linux copmatability)
Hoping for a T43 soon , as it has been said before, especially for what I do on my Thinkpad, a dual core is an overkill, so I'll stick with Pentium M for the price difference for the time being

Thinkpad X22. Small, solid and great battery life. Most of the time I've barely using it's full processor power.
It has a 60GB Hitachi 7200rpm 7k100 drive.

14" T43. Don't know what's next. I have a desktop for gaming, so I really don't need a beefy laptop. I figure maybe after college (another 2.5 years, making it 3 years total owning this one) I'll start thinking about a new laptop. For now, just upgrades (bigger hard drive mostly, and maybe more RAM).

we just got in newer T-42s at work so I traded out my 1.7 w/ 1.5 ram for a 2.0 w/ 2 gig ram. so far I can't tell any difference.. both are stellar performers. I don't game so I really can't imagine actually having a need to upgrade for years to come. whenever the time comes I'm sure there'll be lots of great options that aren't available currently.

I've got a T42 15"

Next time I upgrade I'll most likely be looking at the 14" flavor, or even an X series tablet. Also those Fujitsu 13.3" models looked pretty dandy.

Currently using an X22. Had a T22 before with the 14" 1400x1050 screen, but I've gotten use to the 12" screen. Like the portability of the X series, and I don't miss the CD/DVD from the T series at all much, since I can use network.

I think the laptop will last another 2-3 years. Does everything I want except it can't handle this new H.264 videos... Grgrgrgrgr...

Thinking about new X series, but they all use onboard video. That's horrible!

This X22 has a Radeon Mobility. Yeah it's 8MB, but it's better than onboard video. I've actually use it play Counter-Strike 1.2 - 1.6. Get around 40-60fps. But drops to around 8fps when there's smoke.

Previous: X31 and T42p
Current: X41 non-tablet
Future? Good thing laptops don't rust like cars, so unless it does I'm keeping it forever.
