Hi.
Can anyone tell me if the batterys & bay batteries designed for the R & T Series, like the R52 & T43, will work on a Z60M.
The reason being, is that the Z60M is perfectly specced for me, and although the IBM website lists it as supporting 'bigger' batteries & a bay battery, the one and only place ive found in the UK that does Thinkpad Batteries, doesnt list the Z60M as a compatible laptop for the batteries that they do, which are only listed as working with R & T series Thinkpads.

Thanks in advance all.

It has to be the "ultra slim bay" battery. - not the ultra bay 2000 battery.

So yes.. the same one from the T series... not the R.

Ive found a website ive ordered off before, that does the Z60M that i want, with a Titanium top, and sells both the 9 Cell main battery, & both types of bay battery.
Im thinking of getting the bay battery with it to be honest. The 9 Cell sticks out doesnt it?

the 9 cell does stick out a little. But its not as bad or annoying as one would think it would be. It does give u about 2-3 hour extra time on your laptop so its a big plus. Also it does weigh more then the regular 6 cell so take that into concideration.

Also i heard from my friends who have the slim dock battery, thats its not really worth it. The laptop uses that battery first and then goes to main. I dont know if u can somehow set it to use main and then use slimdock as a reserve, but from what they tell me, they only see about a 30-45 min increase in usage. Personally, id just get the 2nd hard drive storage caddy taht fits there, or just keep the dvd rom.

Oh just to let u know. My T-41p on battery saver mode with 9cell gets about 8-9 hours on a full charge if i use just word/excel/Firefox .

What sort of battery time would i see with a 9-Cell on a Z60M?
Lets say with Wifi usage, and mainly office apps, some programming apps?

Wow! I've got a 42 w/ a 9-cell and the most I can squeeze out of it w/ similar apps going is around 5-5.5hrs. Maybe my GPU (9600) is pulling more power?

Hmmmm thats really wierd because i heard the 42's should be simular to the 41. But then again i have 2 gigs of ram on it. But i dont think that would account for that much of a difference. BTW. i disabled virtual memory because i have 2 gigs so my hard drive rarely goes off unless i start to open stuff. And i dont know if its the GPU, because the T-41p has the ATI FireGL PRO on it. But as i said this is with maximum battery save on, meaning my proc is at ~300mhz and lcd is at 1

THe Z series does not use the 9cel extended that the T and R can use...... It uses a 7 cel as it's extended battery... and contrary to their website... the standard battery is a 4 cel.

Are you sure.
Alot of websites that sell the Z60m, and the IBM website, list it as having a 6-cell battery. And the 'extended battery', is also advertised in just as many places as a 9-cell one.
I dont think that so many websites & the manufactuer could be wrong. But if you've got evidence to prove otherwise...

Holy crap, that's expensive. I just picked up a 6-cell for my T40 for $29 shipped.
Even the 9-cells on eBay new are $110USD.

So the Z60 can definatelly use those batterys i listed to?

Im having problems, i was just about to order the Z60M itself, and Dabs.com say '0 in stock now'. According to their help guide, the expected 'in' date should be listed, but it isnt. They dont have phone lines either, so ive just chucked an email they're way, but when that'll be answered, ive got no idea.

Runtime on a Z60m with WSXGA+ screen & 128MB X600 is 5-5.5hrs on MobileMark; actual usage will be ~4 hours with WiFi & med-high screen brightness. 5+ hours with no WiFi and low screen brightness.

Look for my full review to be posted by the end of next week!

Cool.
Ive just ordered it from a place called CLL Computers. Estimated delivery date is January 17th.
Just need to find a place now that does the batterys. Although i might hold off till i see what the default battery life is like first.

The only other place, apart from dabs that i can see, that do the batteries, is ToyeComputers
But they only do the bay battery, not the 9-cell one.

Ideas?

Incidentally.... there is supposed to be supply constraint on the Z's as Office Depot scooped up 7000 of the recently.

That'd explain my wait till mid January.
Can't wait.

Im still unsure wether i should get a bay battery or a 9-cell main battery. The bay one would mean i could remove the DVDRW that i wouldnt need on the move, using less power from that alone, and not have something sticking out of the back, but the 9-cell battery would allow the DVDRW to be kept.

Do all of the Z60Ms come with the Titanium tops?
The model ive ordered, the UH3FKUK, according to the description on dabs, does have a titanium top, but the place ive ordered from, doesnt list wether it does or doesnt.

According the company, it doesnt. So i cancelled.
Because ive found a place that, according to the website description, does have the Titanium Lid. For £30 more, but, according to stock status, can have it to me within a week.
So im re-ringing CCL on monday to check if its definatelly been cancelled. The ringing this company to confirm it has a titanium top, then checking with my card company to see if the moneys been refunded. Then, hopefully re-ordering the Titanium covered Z60M.
Hopefully.

 I know. Thats what i was asking, is there a way to tell what my old ordered one had.
Hopefully, the supplier ive found has correct info on their website, and their phone operator will confirm that the ones they stock do have Titanium tops.

According to this second company, the laptop, according to their engineers, does have a titanium lid, BUT, they dont expect stock in till mid January. But on the plus side, at least its got the titanium top.
