Hey all got a 2nd hand IBM x30. Drive had failed in it, replaced the drive, spent about 3 days getting windows installed. You see the IBM x30 has no floppy and no CD drive.
Replacement drive did have bad sectors already, and the other night it made the death clicks (sharp clunking). Went out and finally sprang for a new seagate 60gb 5400rpm drive (~$100).
I restored my powerquest drive image, image to the drive using a USB 2.5 drive adapter/enclosure.
Got the error message at the end
Description: Unable to complete the restore of image: E:\Temp\C_Drive.v2i. Cannot copy data from the image file to the destination.
Error E926001D: Redundant copies of the FAT do not match the active FAT.
Details: 0xE926001D
Ran chkdsk, no problems.
Put drive in laptop and got NTLDR not found.
Used Windows setup disks to get to Recovery console, ran fixboot, fixmbr and bootcfg.
FixMBR reported a problem and I let it fix it.
No change. Still get the same NTLDR error!
Tips and suggestions please?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I have no CD drive for the system. Nor do I think it can boot from CD over USB (I do however have a USB floppy drive that it will boot from.) It will not boot from USB memory stick either. Thanks again!
