I currently use a Maxtor Atlas III SCSI HD as my secondary app drive for my server which is great for performance.
Problem is a single IDE HD really bottlenecks the IO's on this system due to IDE's poor ability to handle data queing compared to SCSI
Problem is i really need a totally silent rig and the noise is starting to irritate me.
I was thinking of looking at a solution based on Seagate Barracuda ATA IV HD's in silent drive enclosures but was wondering if there was an IDE raid controller on the market that has the option for adding some SDRAM cache onboard to help alleviate the data queing bottleneck?
If anyone can offer me some advice to help me solve my problem it would be gratefully appreciated.
