ide controller not working

I recently installed an IDE controller in a PCI slot. I installed the driver for the card and it was recognized on Windows XP. I then moved my hard drive from the motherboard controller to the IDE controller. When I booted up it the computer would stop just before the XP splash screen appears.
What do I need to do to get it to boot up?

If the new IDE controller is recognized in Device Manager, it may simply be a problem in BIOS, specifically Boot Sequence. It maybe still be looking at the motherboard controller for the boot disk.

Yes I've heard of this before, boot up issues using hard drives on a seperate controller card. I have never had a chance to look deeper into this though (this was with a PCI 2 port SATA card). You may have to leave your boot drive on the controller, and move all the other drives you want to the new controller.

but the hard drive attached to the ide controller is not my boot hard disc. i have additional 2 ide hard drive while my boot hard drive is a sata attached to the mobo.

It might be looking to boot off of the controller card. Definitely double check in your BIOS the boot order. You could also try removing the card and booting to your SATA boot drive, then add the controller back in. Check the BIOS for changes.
