IDE-to-SCSI converters, particularly the Yamaha one for their new CDRW

So yamaha has come up with a convertor to make their new 20/10/40 CDRW IDE compatible with SCSI and i think there is a convertor for firewire too. My question, do you think this drive will experience the benefits of SCSI cd recorders? IE: almost having to turn off the computer to get a buffer underrun, even with things like burnproof truned off.

Will they have the ability to perform SCSI operations such as command queueing and disconnect?

Its actually quite and intriquing device.

My guess would be that it works like a USB/PS2 mouse.
The devices supports both interfaces, and you just decide which to use to connect it.

The CDRW likely has the electronics to support both SCSI and ATA built into one drive (they could then mass produce this one drive instead of having 2 or 3 different models). And then you just have a "dongle" that has the physical connector for one or the other.

But you couldn't just take that connector and use it on any drive, the drive would actually have to support both interfaces.

This is my theory, and I can't say for sure it's true, but if this is the case then it would fully support all SCSI functionality when used in SCSI interface "mode".

I guess that would be true.. like going back to your USB/PS2 mouse analogy, you can't just attach the PS2->USB adaptor to just any mouse and expect that to work.
