IDE vs. EIDE

I saw some motherboards have IDE controllers(like Epox 8K7A+), and others have EIDE controllers(like ABIT KG7). Is there a big difference between IDE and EIDE in performance and stability? Can I use a EIDE hard drive on an IDE one, or the other way around? I heard EIDE is newer than IDE. So when buying a motherboard, do I need to consider it as a factor and buy an EIDE one?

HAHAHAH dood u aint got a chance in hell of getting an IDE drive / controller - they went out with RFM and XT 's IDE in today's environment is just a shortening of EIDE.

Most mobo's have ATA 100 controllers on them now, and Epox and Abit both make superior products so you can't go wrong with either

Everything is envolved from IDE.
They're just lazy to put an E in front of IDE when writing the motherboard spec.
