Hello. I came up with an idea for a new mouse that logitech would probably be interested in. I was wondering:
-what is the technology behind their MX Air scroll wheel?
-how would I sell this idea to logitech?
-should I develop a prototype?
-would I buy a patent for this idea?
-are my ideas safe or should I copyright them before releasing to AT?

If you want to market an idea you need to talk to do allot of research to make sure no one else has a copywrite or patent on the idea. Then you can apply for a patent. It would also be good to have a working proto type. If you have none of this then a company can take the idea as there own and owe you nothing.

As for the technoligy they use on there MX mouse... Open one up and see how it works. The scroll wheel has a mechanical feature to it that allows it to act the way it does.

OCZ has a product on the market that uses some level of electrode control. You'll want to do some serious research on what's already out there before you decide how much time to invest in this.

As the first steps you do not have to disclose any thing, make believe that you are going to build it and research how much it would cost.

If the cost is too much for a consumer level device than there is probably No market for it.

The idea of using EMG for action in the real world is not new, there are a lot of artificial limbs that work along this line.

It is expensive, but if someone is disabled and needs it expensive would be less of a consideration than an EMG mouse for gaming.
