IE 6 image save problem

Whenever I right click to save images on websites, IE only lets me save them as .bmp and not .jpg. Anyone know why this is or how to fix it? I'm guessing it may have to do with what program handles .jpg perhaps. thanks

open the .bmp file using paint or some other paint/photo program. Just do a "save as" and select jpeg in the "save as type" field.

Are you running AOL on your computer? I know someone who had this problem when they ran AOL on the computer. I cleared all temporary stored internet files in IE to fix the problem.

If you are running AOL try doing this in AOL: Settings -> Preferences -> Internet Properties (WWW) -> Web Graphics -> Never Compress Graphics. This will stop AOL from compressing graphics (.art files). If this isn't AOL, ignore me completely.

yup. clear the cache. i dunno why that works but it does.
