Did you switch from FireFox or Opera?

Why?

What do you like and dislike about IE 7.0 so far?

I use IE 7 and Opera, never really liked Firefox/mozilla. With IE 7 i use IE7Pro add-on, it has alot of usefull features.

IE7Pro includes Tabbed Browsing Management, Spell Check, Inline Search, Auto Fill Form, Super Drag Drop, Crash Recovery, Proxy Switcher, Mouse Gesture, Tab History Browser, Web Accelerator, User Agent Switcher, Webpage Capturer, AD Blocker, Flash Block, Greasemonkey like User Scripts platform, User Plug-ins and many more power packed features.

you can get it here

If IE7 gets mouse gestures, I may go back. The only thing I like about IE right now is the [lack of] memory consumption.

I'll give the IE7.0pro a try I guess - how big is the footprint with the addon ?

mouse gestures is the main reason I've stayed with firefox.

^ using IE7Pro now and mouse gestures... loving it... acts just like Opera for me right now. Time will tell if I'll stick with it permanently.

Why must I submit my ass to microsoft? I don't care if firefox takes 900MB of memory. Themes and addons ftw. Open source!

Opera is best. I just like the interface better than Firefox. both have trouble veiwing some webpages though. Anways, IE 7 feels so kiddish. I tried IE 7 on vista and I hate how it lacks the toolbars (file, edit, View, etc on the top).

Firefox, has mouse gestures that I love with a plugin. Opera does too, but I found issues with compatibility on some webpages with it and eventually just switched to Firefox.

Right click --> check Menu bar to make it show.

So far, what I really don't prefer is how the address bar is at the very top and doesn't seem movable... ? Also, for mouse gestures, there's a limited set of movements... I can't set something for right-down, for example.

Firefox on Linux and XP boxes, IE7 on Vista boxes.

IE has had such a long history of problems, I don't think I could ever go back. With Firefox and others, you get a wide range of add-ons, less virus vulnerability, better standards support, and other things. To bring it to a single point -- Firefox is managed by people who primarily care about the software, while IE is managed by people who primarily care about money. I'll side with Firefox for that alone.

PS: Does IE7 at least support PNG alpha channels?

I use IE7 on WinXP Pro, and I did switch from Firefox. IE7 is fast, I like the UI, and it has tabs. I don't use any of the bs add-ons in Firefox so I'm not missing any functionality.

I know it's cool to hate on Microsoft, but I'm no lemming.

You should use whatever s/w works best for you, regardless of who makes it.

I primarily use Opera at home for the newsgroup, RSS, and e-mail, but I have absolutely no problem using IE7 at work.
