IE(Kernel32.dll errors) what to do?

ASUS P3BF 1006 Beta 3 BIOS. P3 700@933 at 1.8volts. PC133 256MB of ram Crucial 7E. Running Windows 98 SE. Diamond MX300 sound card with latest drivers.

Everything was working fine. But now I upgraded to DirectX8 and problems began. I get frequent IE(kernel32.dll and wsock32.dll errors). Games exit to desktop once in a while for unknown reasons.

I have another HD with DirectX7a and everthing runs fine on it no problems. So I know it can't be the ram or the CPU. I tried putting the settings to default like P3 700 at 1.65volts and 100mhz BUS. Still get errors.

My video card is GeForce 2. I tried different drivers still get the same errors.

I'm not sure if it's DirectX8 that's causing this or something else.

What can I do to solve this thing?

Try this:

Do a search for files named "*.dll" in your c: drive.

Then look to see if there are any duplicate .DLLs -> If yes then try removing the older version of the .DLL in question and see if that helps.

You can also try UNinstalling and then REinstalling DirectX drivers !??!

also run the sfc (if you are running win98 or above) to see if anything is corrupted...

Seemingly, if i get illegal ops and stuff like that, there is usually another dll causing the fault in the kernal

I will try what you guys suggested.

I ran Norton Anti Virus and I had 2 viruses. One was in wsock32.dll.

I think that was causing problem with winsock and kernel32.dll
