IE locks up with detonator drivers

Hi, I am currently running a geforce2mx and use the 6.50 drivers. I have not seen any need to upgrade them as I have been getting 85+ fps in hlaf-life all this time. I recently bought Return to Castle Wolfenstein and decided I needed some more ponies to keep up.

The problem: if I install any driver over what I am using, I will lock up randomly in IE. As far as I can tell, it is usually when I try and open IE, but I had it lock up in other windows too (namely regedit looking for old video card entries and in Windows explorer once). If I go back to the 6.50's it runs fine.

I have switched to 'standard vga' then removed all traces of nvidia and even used a program called detonatorDestroyer that supposedly removes all traces of the old drivers from your system. It still happens. I would really like to use them cause I did a 3dmark2001 and went from 2279 to about 2700 with the 23.11 drivers. It proceeded to lockup 5 minutes later when I opened IE though. :/

Anyone else have this problem? I have read nothing about this. Thanks for your help.

Well I was having lockup problems in IE with the newest NVIDIA drivers (23.11) and alot of other people seem to be having problems with these drivers. If you can try and get the 21.83 drivers, their certified by Microsoft and their stable

Thanks, but I tried those, along with 21.88, 22.80(?), 14.xx. It did it with all except the 6.50's.

Anyone else havea clue?

my roommate has a similiar problem, he has a TNT2 and whenever he installs any of the nvidia drivers his computer crashes anywhere from 5 seconds to 2 minutes after startup...
