IE MAXIMIZED

whenever I open a link by pressing Open in new window, it doesn't open maximized. Is there a way I can make every window open maximizd?
anybody know? thanks

Open up a new window, and maximize it. Then close it while olding shift and control and the same time. Actually, I think you only need to hold one of them down but I forget which it is, and I always have trouble if I hold one down. ANYWAY, after you do that, and you open a new one, all your windows should open maximized. If it doesn't try it again. Also, make sure all the IE windows are closed.

Give it a try, the newest version is quite good, and does not suffer from the problem that you describe.

There is no way to do what you want unfortunately. It aggrevated me so much I got a 5 button mouse and assigned one of the buttons to maximize.

Sometimes it helps to maximize the window manually, and then close. If that doesn't work, keep trying both techniques fron time to time and it will eventually set. Damn Microsoft.

this is something that MS still can't do, the best you can hope for is to drag the corners to the max and then shift X the next window will open like that.

the other thing that IE is lame with is that you can't open an favorite into a new window. really lame. I mean how hard would it be to list the favorite and then right click and open in new window.

try this:

have a few windows open (any size) find a link that opens in reduced size. leave it at size. close all other windows but last one that not max'ed. then max that window. Now close the last IE windo as it it now max'ed(last ie window now closed) re-boot.

really sounds like alot to do i know, but it worked for me. I don't know the details, but i believe IE is "remembering" the window size for the last window open.

I actually got that tip from an A+ Certification book from a long time ago, I believe. It WILL work. I've been using this for two years.

Open IE (the first window is usually maximized)
Send yourself to Anandtech
While on the frontpage, open any forum in it's own new window
Now close that origional window
Make sure NO OTHER WINDOWS are open, besides the window you just opened
Right click the taskbar, pick "Tile Windows Horizontally"
Drag the Window's length, or width.

Now the position should be saved. After that, i usually hit Control+N to open another window, just for good luck
