Like most people after upgrading I have no menu bar or links bar.

However when I go to Tools->Toolbars the options to bring them back are greyed out.

Anyone have simular problems and know how to solve this. Can't live without my quick links at the top.

Thanks

When you first install, your links are hidden under the word LINKS. Does that appear over to the right with a down arrow? That lets you access them all, and then you can drag them up to the menu bar. That's how I have most of mine - some are still stacked below and hidden. It then looks like this:

Links

Thats what I'm saying if I go Tools->Toolbars->Links then it's greyed out.

Not sure how I lock or unlock the toolbars to know?

Right click the bar and there should be a links and also lock/unlock toolbar.

Remove IE7 and reinstall 6. Then try it again.

Sorry you have such a screwed up system. All that works perfectly in mine.

It's ok I've solved it. You need to run GPEDIT.MSC and then go to

User Configuration ->Administrative Templates-> Windows Components ->Internet Explorer -> Toolbars

and then set Disable Customising Broweser butons to Disable.

Then the lock/unlock menu item comesback.

Did you read the posts? Try unlocking the toolbars, enabling the Links toolbar, and dragging it to a visible location.

found this item on another forum http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054892733&referrerid=59211

Those in the know will know that Windows XP Home does not have the management console policy gpedit.msc enabled It is possible to install using it using this fix:copy the following items from a PC running windows xp professional to the folder windows\system32
* appmgmts.dll
* appmgr.dll
* fde.dll
* fdeploy.dll
* gpedit.msc
* gpedit.dll
* gptext.dll

Create the following folder c:\windows\system32\GroupPolicy\Adm and copy to it
* system.adm
* inetres.adm
* conf.adm

Finally open the dos prompt and run the following from the folder windows\system32
regsvr32 gpedit.dll
regsvr32 fde.dll
regsvr32 gptext.dll
regsvr32 appmgr.dll
regsvr32 fdeploy.dll
Close the prompt and there ya go

Thanks for posting this topic and its solution. I had the same issue in IE6 with my ToolBars (no "Lock the ToolBars" & all ToolBar drop-downs greyed-out) . The MenuBar and LinksBar were intact & visible @ IE6 and not a problem. However, when I migrated to IE7 they both disappeared (or became hidden) and all ToolBar drop-downs remained greyed-out.

Again, thank you for the solution, it worked great. Also, cool to have control over the ToolBars for first time (well, at least on this computer, only one with this problem).
