IE8 freezes/hangs

I installed 7 64 bit on my new build last week, and it seems every day at some point IE8 freezes or hangs, and I have to cntl/alt/del to get it force quit. I checked for solutions, but didnt receive any back when reporting. The only add ons I have running are Symantec intrusion detection and PDF link helper. I have disabled flash altogether.

Any ideas? I abhor FF so please dont suggest I use it. Chrome perhaps, but that doesnt fix whats wrong.

try disabling symantec and see if it still happens

That's a fairly ambiguous crash message.

Try running in no-add on mode for a while. If the problem persists then it's not an add-on.

I'll try this and see how it goes.

happened to me on vista - went away after i moved to MSE and removed a bunch of plug-ins and upgraded to win7 (and only after that).

you know symantec and norton stuff will plague your ie8 forever. its damn near impossible to remove - i suggest re-install of o/s

Try to check also if it's working in safe mode (with networking of course)

I disabled all plugins, so far so good.
