If a GF 2 MX PCI 32M has 4 memory chips, what bus width does it have?

I have to decide between a Voodoo 2 12Mb and the GF 2 MX 32Mb for a K6-2 366Mhz I made... lol, I know we are in 2006 !!!

The GF 2 MX, if it has only 4 SDR rectangular chips, is ONLY 64 Bits wide, isnt it?
Maybe I should go for the Voodoo 2 12Mb, what do you recommend?

The Voodoo 2 is 3D only, so you're going to need a second 2D card if you wind up using it. I'd just use the GF2 MX.

A GF2 MX is deffinately faster than a Voodoo2. The V2 was contending with the original TNT, so the GF2 is 3 generations newer than that V2.

Ill buy the GF 2MX, even with the 64 memory bus it should be better than the Voodoo 2

If you're going for some retro gaming, I'd recommend a Voodoo 3 series card. There is no fan to break and it should be equivalent or faster than the GF2 MX. Also glide games just look better typically than the DX rendered version of the same game; Quake 2 is the best example I can think of for this phenomenon.

yep, I have a voodoo 3, but an AGP version. I have a KT133 mobo and a Duron 800 for it
I build a K6-2 366 rig, just for fun , but it has no AGP, so I had two offers in my country (argentina), a Voodoo 2 12Mb ($40, not dollars) or a GF 2 MX 200 PCI 32Mb($60, not dollars). Ill go with the GF also cos it has T&L and it should help that little K6-2.

Depending on just how retro we are talking about. The voodoo3 doesn't do 32-bit color, and the Geforce2MX plays DirectX7 games pretty well. Plenty of "newer" DirectX7 games do look much nicer in 32-bit color.

A couple things to consider:

1. If you're looking to old games to play with this, there were a LOT of 3dfx ONLY games back before the Riva-128 really brought non-voodoo cards into contetion. There are glide wrappers and stuff out there, but I never really played with them much so I can't vouch for how good they work.

2. Voodoo boards don't support 32-bit color, so you'll get crap-tastic looking gradients in games that do support it.

So i think Ill buy BOTH of them (just 33 dollars BOTH, here in my country), and decide which one is better
Is it a big deal? 33 dollars is not much money to spend off...

I've got an Athlon K7 800Mhz, 512MB PC100 RAM, and a Voodoo 4 4500 AGP. Nothing like 8-bit palettized textures with anti-aliasing for Final Fantasy VII and VIII on the PC. This box would've been sweet to have back when I was first playing all those 3dfx only titles .

It just hit me that you could just pick up a Geforce4Mx or derivative as it's basically a higher clocked GF2MX and probably costs about the same now.

Edit: The main difference between the original GF2 MX and the various GF4MX versions is that the GF2MX has a 175Mhz Core clock and the various GF4MXs have between 250-275Mhz Core clock.
