I'm not sure what you mean by "transcend good and evil." Forgiveness is very simple: it acknowledges guilt and promises not to punish. Forgiveness doesn't take away the existence of sin, before or after.

They have the right idea but the wrong approach, actually that there is such a thing as any approach at all. Who is going to crucify the ego, the ego? It cannot be done. Who will just let the light touch you, the ego? Who will bring out hope, the ego? It is precisely because everything the self does to save itself is designed to preserve itself that the self cannot get rid of itself. It is always the self that wants to control, to save itself and to be free. The self is a prison and the self seeks freedom within its prison. There is no escape until the hope of escape dies, until the self surrenders in defeat. There is no hope or exit, but when one comes to the end of ones rope something we call grace is possible and can happen to you. But you can't make grace come. It comes when all hope is abandoned. Naturally you can't abandon hope, but you can see that escape is impossible.

Good and evil arise from duality, the abstraction of the direct perception of the now without words into an analysis based on words, memories, and thoughts instead, an analysis that is cold, sterile, and dead because it is always of the past. Note that a dog never forgives his master because he never held him to blame. He only loves him and places his whole being trust in him. He can see only Christ in you because he cannot understand evil. By his life the dog denies that evil exists.

But like you, that trust can be beaten out of him. A dog can be beaten with a stick, but the man is beaten with words.
