By doing good in his name.. If they claim to be a Christian then show others what Christ is all about..

If you're talking about being an avatar for Christ, then no. If you're talking about being a goodwill ambassador, then I'd say yes, that's probably part of the job description. You'll have to ask someone who is playing that role to clarify exactly how they view the agent/principal relationship for being God's frontman.

Very good question, here is the answer.

Matthew 25

31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Unfortunately giving cliff notes for some things is like a blind man describing an elephant by its trunk, tail, or tusks, even though the description may be correct the overall meaning is lost.

No cd here. I know today that many like to judge things based on soundbites and quick reads and then alter it to fit what they believe. When you do that you let some one else decide what they want you to see and read and many take that as gospel. Ask how many in congress actually vote and make decisions for us based on cliff notes someone else gave them.

If I don't like the length of something I don't read it, I try not to judge or insult the person who wrote it.

I would present the following from Matthew Chapter 5

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a acandle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

I've always understood that in order to be worthy of the forgiveness of Christ, we need to show our dedication to him. After all, faith without works is dead. And you are very correct, Conjur, many of us Christians will have a lot to answer for. Just my opinion though.

I believe that the above quotes from the Bible are allegories or allusions not to a particular person but to a state of consciousness that attended a person who exemplified or exemplifies that state of consciousness. Such a person can and has been called many things, the Christ, a Prophet, an Avatar, the Buddha, the Teacher, and many other names. Such people, though personal work, with the likely assistance of systems, have broken the illusions of duality and regained a unified state. They cease to be human as humans understand human consciousness because they see from a place that humanity cannot perceive. Because they essentially operate in a dimension we cannot enter they can do what we cannot do. We call such work miracles. Because the state of unified being is attended by great love and joy, such people are a magnetic force for the human race. There is an island somewhere by India, for example, where there is a woman in such a state that has chosen to express all this in a kiss. Millions and millions and millions of people have pilgrimaged to her for that kiss.

Religion is, therefore, a bridge to another reality that is a conscious state, a realization, that frees the mind of delusion. It is an awakening into a higher dimension of realization. It is the end of thought and the entering into the now. It is the presence of heart.

But all this is just words. As the Zen master says, the finger pointing at the moon is not the moon.

Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die. It is the ego that seeks salvation. By dying on the cross Jesus accomplished his mission. He pointed to the fact that the ego has to die. The seeking of salvation must end because you have already been saved. What we will not believe is that we are forgiven. Everything we are is guilt and we won't let go of that. We can as much feel forgiven as we can forgive.

Are you angry, are you vengeful, full of jealousy or spite? Do you want that criminal to swing. What you do to yourself you want done to others. This is the mirror of ourselves.

And all for naught because we are forgiven. All our lives, like a fish in water, we have lived in unity seeking the kingdom of heaven as if it were somewhere else then here and now. May the rat that is your mind come to the end of its rope.

O......K......

I'm not trying to dishonor you ideal, just not sure I understand all of what you're trying to say. I personally feel that the body must die also, rather than just the ego. I think Chris provided a mean to overcome physical death (body) as well as a mean to overcome spiritual death (which I would associate with your title of "ego"). However, one if given freely to all. The other must be obtained. It is available to all, but as with the children of Israel, we must choose to "look to it."

I can honestly say that I do really admire your strong devotion to love. I think it's to often found missing in people.

If you follow Him, and do not forsake His teaching and guidence, you will certainly recieve the eternal reward He speaks of, as He is the representitve of His Fathers will. Its is the Father in Heaven that I pray all of you seek and choose to return to in the next life. That is His will for all of His children.

According to the Bible, God wants us all to behave ourselves. Just like the parable above shows, we are all to treat eachother well on earth. And also like the parable says, those who do not do this--those who sin--they will be damned.

Except for one thing.

God sent Jesus to pay the price for our sins. So those who would have been damned (like the man in the parable) will instead be saved.

Now, about the initial question, are followers of Christ "representatives" of Christ? Well, there's nothing in the Bible that directly addresses that, but we can infer an answer from other passages. Scripture is very clear that we as humans are inherently flawed. "There is no one good; no, not even one." How can a sinful person represent a sinless diety? It's not really a realistic goal. In any case, God never asks us to "represent" him.

On the other hand, we should all be aware that non-Christians look to Christians before they look to Christ. For example, how many people are disgusted with the Christian religion because of imbeciles like Pat Robertson? So it is that even though Christians aren't exactly obligated to "represent" God or Christ, they should still strive to set a good example for non-Christians.

How can you be sinful if you are forgiven and how could you sin if you knew it? There is no escape from duality within duality. To forgive is to transcend good and evil. To transcend is to leave behind, to die to what was.
