If all new video cards are too expensive, why can't you find them anywhere?

I've been trying to get 2 new video cards for 2 weeks now for some high end imaging center solutions I'm building for a company I'm working for. Let me tell you it has been next to impossible to get anything resembling a high end video card. I've tried many Geforce2's, Matrox's and noone has them in stock! If people are so unhappy about the price, it must just be that they don't like spending that much, but they do anyways! Geez, why is this so difficult!!

Where have you been looking? Mwave.com, I know has almost all of them in stock. Radeon 64MB DDR Retail for $355.

$355 is too much...I got one for $250 (shipped!) on the FS/FT forums... from Hawk...he is awesome and cut me an awesome deal...he has 32MB'ers for less... here

You guys have got it all wrong! Didn't you have an economics course in high school or something? Its supply and demand. The supply of the video cards is low and the demand is high. This means that the merchants can charge high rates and still sell all their units.

I don't see a shortage of GTS's anywhere (32MB models) Seems all the local retail outlets have at least 2 or 3 of Creatives and Herc's in stock...most online retailers have 'em just gotta look.

uhhh...newsflash - There isn't a shortage. I can't go to any online retailer without checking the video card section and without fail every single one has had Geforce2's. Many have MX's, Radeons, and V4/5's as well. If you mean a local store, I don't even go to those anymore but a friend of mine purchased a GeForce 2 from Electronics Boutique (but he got raped as far as price goes).
