I was thinking about picking up another but I already have enough toys. I've been playing around with this vastly inferior pantech digital novel without the capacitive touch screen and it sucks. Its heavy, not as good battery life, and slow compared to the nook color. Still, it works well as an E-reader and I couldn't sell it for what I have in it. My wife's hacked nook color is an amazing device. Kudos to all who got in on this deal.

And like I posted earlier it comes with this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....at232900050024

You have to add it to your cart.

Well, in my particular case, it's a bit more complicated.

I live in Canada, so I need to make a trip across the border (luckily, not very far)... Hopefully, the offer with the free powerpack should be available in-store as well... but I need to make sure that the BestBuy I would go to will have the items in stock - it would really suck to drive for almost two hours , only to be told in the end that there's no stock available!

Ok just did a basic root on it. Pretty nice. But the YouTube link worked for awhile and now doesn't. I also had some transparent menu type icons show up when I hit the arrow button and now they don't show up either. I may have done something in the settings...

Did accelerometer stop working with root? I notice the browser does not rotate when I put it on the side anymore.
Also, who's running Nookie Honeycomb? Is it ready for primetime or should I wait a bit longer?

Honeycomb won't be ready to go for a while. Three roadblocks:

1. There is no Honeycomb source to make a "native" version

2. True Honeycomb support will require a newer Linux kernel (this also might fix bluetooth) and that work is tough from what I have read

3. The DSP's breakage is not easily fixed as well. Seems like even getting CM7 working is hard:

http://opquad.blogspot.com/2011/02/getting-nook-color-dsp-working-for.html

I am predicting decent working Honeycomb in maybe a month or two if Google releases the ASOP in the next two weeks. For now the best version by far is Nookie Froyo, with working Flash, video (Youtube), and market support.

What I do is dual boot the current Honeycomb with Froyo. Froyo is for me to actually use, but when I want to make a friend feel jealous of my "little Xoom" I boot into Honeycomb and show it off. I have even turned off all the animations and I have force installed popular Android apps (Angry Birds) to create an illusion that its a slick experience.

But the honest truth is Honeycomb right now (even when installed on the internal memory) is slow (even with overclock), buggy (MANY things crash), and hard to use (so many market apps aren't there and can't be force installed- like the Nook app). Froyo is where its at right now...

No, mine still rotates. Someone on another forum suggested I install the Zeam launcher and I like it, but I can't get it to stay up all the time, I have to hunt for it.

I can't wait.to try out a ROM that oc's it to 1.1ghz. It seems to run pretty good as is so I imagine the performance to be noticeably better after such a ROM upgrade. I just played some Angry Birds on it and it ran just fine. Also Im posting this from it.

Are you running Froyo of SD card or you flashed the onboard ROM?

Onboard eMMC. All SD card versions run too slow for regular use IMHO. I have both Froyo and Honeycomb installed internally, with Froyo as the default. Poor stock OS was blow away within an hour of the package being opened.

Is it possible to buy the protection plan since this was an online purchase?

Do you have link on how to load it onto eMMC? The instructions on nookdev were for SD card nookie.

Actually I use a customized Froyo with some of the kinks works out (and a overclockable kernel by default). Instructions and things to download are here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938200

Then once its installed and running, I recommend installing the "v0.0.5 with Softkeys" theme using the Rom manger:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944278

With that theme you can then have menu and back buttons on the status bar (like Honeycomb does) and it becomes completely useable (as in you have to use the annoying N button Softkeys less).

Hmmmmm, after reading that thread from the first link there, it seems they have problems with that build - touchscreen going wonkey, and the wifi going off and on, etc... I'll wait till a more stable HC build is available. Not to say I won't try a stable Froyo build in the meantime.

I've been using the nightly CM7 since last night. Wow, this this is awesome. I can't believe it was only $200. Why doesn't someone market this as a full featured Android tablet? I could see this thing flying off the shelves with a stable android build if it was priced between $250 and $300.

Are you having any issues with it?

Installed it, but App Store says it's "unsuccessful" installing apps. I can see them and click install, but it doesn't install them, and notification says unsuccessful.

Just some minor issues because it's not a stable build. Browsing the market is a bit flakey and a ccouple of other small things. I installed it to the internal memory with an overclocked kernel.

My brain has been hurting after playing with this all last nite and this morning. I'm tempted to try another ROM but I will hold off a little longer till I learn a little more.

That is a common problem with the market cache. Go under settings, view all apps. Then clear the Google Framework data and Market cache. Then reboot. It should work then.

If you have a problem where certain apps don't show up in the market, install this:

http://code.google.com/p/market-enabler/

Using the Astro File Manager. Then run it and tell it to spoof a US T Mobile phone. then everything shows up.

Every build thread has someone complaining about the touchscreen going wonky. I personally think its sensitive in a way different from most phones and so it screws people up. Personally I have gotten used to its level of sensitivity and I can adjust easily now.

As far as the wifi thing, all non stock builds have a problem where wifi shuts off when you put it to sleep, then drags its feet getting connected again. My solution to that was to install the market app "Soft Locker" which doesn't allow the NC to disconnect ever.

Seriously though, no build has less problems than that Froyo build. Its just that ALL Nook builds (outside of stock) have some issues because we are talking community provided OSes...

To dual boot I used the guide and downloads from this thread:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959461

The trick is whatever OS you have installed when you go through that is your "default" OS, so I installed normal Nookie Froyo first, then I added the dual boot HC ROM from that thread.
