I tried the eMMC for both the froyo and the CM7. Someone could make a mint off of people like me on upgrading these Nooks for a small fee...
Set up dual-boot and keep your experimental setup in the alternate slot. Before I go emmc I'll wait for CM7/HC to mature. Right now I've got Nookie Froyo running on SD.
for eMMC, is CM7 better than Nookie Froyo, since it's Gingerbread? Any major issues with CM7? Does it support all the apps and Flash?
Doesn't even have to be that. Just come up with a complete package you simply download to the card on your PC, put it in the nook, turn it on and let it go until its done.
SD is slower anyway. It FLYES on eMMC.....
I'm using a class 4 2gb card. Boots right up in seconds, not seeing/feeling any lag. Why bother?
A friend of mine was thinking about that, upgrading the NC to Froyo, overclocking them, and then turning around and selling them for a $75 premium. Problem is warranty and support.
There's a guy on our local craigslist who did that. Or is trying to do that. I laugh every time I see his "ad" for offering to root your nook color for $50.00 or selling one for $320. It takes literally 5 minutes to root a nook color using autonooter and then works great. I'm mostly retarded and did it without any issues. Maybe he's doing a lot of them, maybe not, but this is not something anyone should have to pay for.
I have it setup with Nookie Froyo, but the wireless keeps turning itself off and on. It's driving me ape shit.
I read during the initial setup process, there's a non mandatory step involving creating an Barnes and Noble account. What are the downsides of not doing it, as I doubt I'll ever buy anything related to the e-reader stuff.
Anyone want to help an old guy out with a quick and easy overclock guide for eMMC Froyo? Most of those sites out there assume quite a bit, or think that everyone runs Linux.
