The Iraelis have hinted that a Nuclear response may be made against Iraq if Bilogical or Chemical weapons are used against Israel. However, that is a last resort, and not an outcome anyone wants.

As I understand it, nations have this really interesting policy on "weapons of mass destruction."

Basically, "weapons of mass destruction" include nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons. Many countries have this policy that, if attacked with WMD, they will respond with WMD.

Since many of these countries do not have chemical or biological weapons, that means a nuclear retaliation.

Now, this understanding is based on reading of Tom Clancy's fiction, so take it with a large grain of salt.

Here is another link to the story, from what appears to be a pro-Israeli website. Older readers may remember the concept of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction), which kept the US and the USSR from each others' throats during the Cold War. The concept is sound (unless you're dealing with Islamist fanatics, most likely, but that doesn't cover Saddam), but the attacked country must follow through or there's no point.

Israel has the right and the moral obligation to respond to an Iraqi attack that uses WMD.

If any Arab country was attacked by Israel or the US with a nuclear weapon, you would see a nuclear detonation on US soil within a year. Nukes are a preventive measure; if they are ever used again (now that everyone has them), it would be deadly for all parties involved.
