If BBR and Anadtech Both Joined up into ONE team...

Well since you're changing the subject a good part of my posts came from the for sale/trade forum, as did my 181 postive heatware evals ,looking for parts to build the 18 machines I have in my home crunching for TEAM ANANDTECH not BBR.
Gotta go now looking for more parts to build more machines to crunch for TeAm Anandtech.

i vote nay for just about any merger. however, if a team all the way down at the bottom wanted to join us, i wouldn't have a problem with it, since it wouldn't really macke much of a difference.

a different thing we could do, like others have said, have the 24hrs before, the un-official finish line. after those places have been recorded, then every single team should merge, creating a bigger sense of accomplishment with us all. we are all helping the same cause, so i see no better union, then one. but only after the 24hr finale.

Currently, there is a conversation going on between S@NL and DPC set about merging when Seti 1 ends.
But that has nothing to do with unsportsmanlike activity..

1. A merge will NEVER happen. Just like you'll never see the Yankee's and the Redsox merge together. As many of you have said, it isn't about being #1. It's about the competition and having fun.

2. I am one of those members in your team with about 21 WU. This was done because a lot of Anandtech members were visiting our BBR forum and posting. But since they were not members of our team, they could not have the spinning globe trinket. My answer was to have them join our team with another account and crunch one unit for BBR. In return, I (and other's) would crunch one unit under Anandtech's flag. So there was no net gain by either team and the Anandtech guys could get their globes.

2. Thx for info about this. i was worried 'cos I think I read somewhere there were such incidents, as members from team joining other, when the other thinks it's save, then they rejoined orginal team..
BTW, what is spinning globe trinket ?

Just think of this: ThE TeAm AnandTech - BBR.com Team Starfire Alliance No.1 SETI@home team in the WORLD!!!

I remember, when I was on Team TNT, I believe on ECCP, and we decided to join with our greatest rival (whose name I don't recall). It seemed like a great idea at first, and we were #1 for a bit, but soon the personalities from the two teams confliceted and they fell apart (and drove me back here.)

Well, just look on a couple of facts, according to the weekly stats only 25% of Anandtech's seti-team was active, and BBR has comparable statistics. So roughly 4000 users on both teams isn't crunching any longer. Of course some is off in other projects, and maybe returned the last couple of days, while others is crunching under one of the mini-teams. But my guess is atleast 3000 isn't paying attention to Seti any longer, and many haven't got a working email-address registered for seti so can't be contacted...

AFAIK there's only 2 ways to make a joint team, either make a new team and get all to join this new team, or get one of the teams to move to the other team. Of course Berkeley can merge teams, but don't expect this being done for any of the club-teams...

So even in the unlikely event the teams chooses to join forces, the combined team will lose a large portion of the total wu. Maybe it's possible to beat OcUK for 3rd place, but not even this is a certainty.
Personally I'll pull my accounts if the teams are merged.

Of course, making a joined adventure then BOINC is released is an opportunity but very unlikely. It's atleast much easier to do...

Many of us have been members over here at TA for quite awhile! Many of us post but thers of us just lurk and read. I myself find your forums quite engaging at times.

I have started to lurk over there as well. It realy amazes me that 2 teams that are such strong contenders are so nice to each other. I am glad I am part of this. I look forward to the next project we are fighting to win. Makes it more fun.
