... BX150 must reign!

From IXBT:

http://www.ixbt-labs.com/cpu/coppermine-overclock.html

BX150 vs BX133
1. 500E@750 ~= P3-800EB
2. 550E@825 ~= P3-933EB

Needlessly to say, a 600E@900 will exceed the performance of P3-1GHz. Forget those pathetic nubmers of i815/VIA, they aren't even contenders of BX133.

At 150MHz FSB, AGP = 100MHz (equal to AGP3X) and PCI = 37.5MHz. Everything is overclocked. BX is truly the ultimiate overclockers' board.

Man, afterall 150MHz FSB isn't that difficult for a 2 years old mobo chipset to reach. Get the right mobo, like Abit BF6/BE6-2, Asus P3BF/CUBX, MSI BXMaster or Epox BX6/BX7/BX7+, and a display card like GeForce or G400 which run flawlessly at 100MHz AGP, BX150 is easily ready to go.

For self-interest I tested some brands of cheap PC133 SDRAM on my BX152 systems. To my surprise all of them do the dance at 150MHz nicely. Just make sure you don't get a mobo that is picky towards memory.

Not that impressive. Im sure VIA/i815E will hit 150 as well if the CPU is capable of doing it, they will probably push the CPU even high due to the fact that 1/2AGP divider is present.

Just curious, do you know Andylawcc?

No way, all at 133MHz FSB, BX leaves them in dust. The gap will widen more at 150MHz.

andylawcc? He sux, HAHAHA~~ j/k

Oh boy, what do you mean by leaving them in the dust? If you mean like 1-2%, or 2-3 frames per second, guess what? You're right. As far as I've seen the BX is outdueling VIA/i815E, but by a very small margin. I wouldnt call it a no contest. Plus all the cool sh*t that comes with i815E, I really think its chances of suceeding BX is high. Like I said, if you hit 150 with VIA/i815E, the gap will either stays the same or be narrowed.

Do you know where he's been these days? Some said he went back to Hong Kong, I just want to comfirm that.

You've asked the right person. He's now having the summer vocation in Hongkong, rotting gradually. Just curious to know, why u know me got the answer?

Well forget the dust stuff, it is a bit exaggerated. But it is a shame that these new mobo with a full checklist of "technical advancements", cough**hype**cough, still unable to surpass a 2 years old "inferior" product.

Well, it makes sense to ask you because you're from HongKong, I know Andy is from HongKong so I guess you know him, or the chances are high.

True enough, VIA and i815E is full of marketting gimmicks(AGP4X, ATA66/100), but it does makes sense to get them over the BX. They support 133MHz naturally, a good advantage, and the 1/2 AGP divider really helps when you overclock, another good reason to get them, and having AGP4X and ATA100 to brag about isnt a bad thing either. Well, that's just me.

Well anyone have a 1Ghz to test this theory??
I have a P3-650 @975 150Mhz FSB, works like a charm.. This is with Retail HS/F and Standard Voltage (1.65v)....

I wouldn't say that the BX beats the VIA133A by only 1% to 2%. It's more like 8% to 15% (and sometimes more) at equivalant bus speeds. I've got various BX boards and VIA133/133A boards, and this is what I have seen a lot of times. Memory interleaving does help out a lot of the VIA boards, but the performance gap is still there.

I believe the ace in the hole for the BX is in fact its memory controller, while that is the achilles heel of the VIAs.

I mean BX beats i815E by like 1-2%. The gap between BX and VIA is more, but in Q3, the difference is less than 5 frames per second. I hardly call that a difference.
