Maybe the the question is, can China afford to NOT invade Taiwan?

It is not the chips, it is the chip packaging.

Taiwan rules the chip packaging industry, and their are no good alternatives right now. Intel can do it, but not enough capacity there.



As for China going after Taiwan, China may feel it does not have a choice. China made some very bad economic choices a long time ago ( one child policy ), and Taiwan to fixes that.


The flip side is if China goes for it and fails, its over for the CCP. If Ukraine has shown us anything, if Taiwan decides to fight China is not going to just be able to walk in and win.

I don't think they're as far behind as we would like to believe. 1. ) They have the 2nd most amount of satellites in space. 2.) Look on Amazon and Newegg, most tech gadgets are manufactured in China. 3.) They are 4 times our population with a much stronger cultural emphasize on education. China's been utilizing our top notch universities now. In Academia, science, and engineering, they've pretty much caught up.

It's to placate their people. They've been screaming invasion since 1949.

Unlikely about placating the masses. The general populous doesn't give two shits about invading Taiwan or any other country. Like most, they care about making enough money to have a roof over their head, and food on the table.

That's not to say they aren't brainwashed and pushed into believing what the Chinese government tells them to believe, because if you listen to propaganda long enough, you'll start to believe it. But for the most part, the average person just wants to live a happy and prosperous life.

Odds are their a good number of components in your computer that come from China. They are strong in DRAM packaging, circuit board assembly, power supplies, and fans of all types. Noctua's are Chinese manufactured these days.



China has what it needs to get local superiority at and around Taiwan for a time. The USN will be forced back into blue water hit and run strikes, where China's boats don't have the endurance to follow. The airspace is the same, China has the numbers to achieve local superiority, and F-22s out of Japan and the Philippines are going to do a lot of damage but China has thousands of aircraft for them to kill, it will take them time to change matters over Taiwan.


Unless Japan/South Korea intervene directly Taiwan will likely have to stand and fight for several weeks.



*the US navy is designed for endurance, speed, defending aircraft carriers, and to sailing the ocean blue for months at a time. China, Japan, South Korea, they don't need to do that. Ton for Ton a South Korean or Japanese ship is just going hit harder and defend itself better then its US equivalent.

I think a blockade would be very difficult for China to pull off.

Yea, day 1 would work. But the way Chinese ships and aircraft are built, Taiwan is at the end of their endurance limit.


Taiwan does nothing at all. Its the ROTW that needs Taiwan. Taiwan just needs to wait for the international pressure to build. Taiwan under siege.

No refrigerator for you. No car repair for you. No microwave for you. No TV for you. No cooking timer for you. No machine tool for the factory. No air conditioner repair for you. No furnace repair for you.

Its all the evil communist China's fault.



China loses that one. Taiwan can just sit back and watch as an international coalition blows the Chinese fleet out of the water three months later.
