They don't necessarily need the man power if they fight guerrila-style warfare through the tundra... then again, what would be the purpose of the war in the first place, heh. If its to occupy then the long drawn out fight in the cold would prob deter most aggressors.

it would be hard for them to defend their cities. though i dont even know how another state woudl get ground troops there. for one they would have to march through canada, which may or may not get involved. in addition, any state that is not on the northern us border would have to travel through another enemy state to even get to alaska! a naval assault wouldnt even be an option for all the landlocked states if they wanted to attack, and any state on the gulf or east coast woudl have a bitch of a time even getting a navy up there. CA would probably have the best chance

But Michigan wouldn't be a pushover. We're surrounded by water except on our southern border, so we'd be very hard to attack. And everybody knows Ohio and Indiana are pussies. All we would have to do would be to go into Detroit and tell everyone it was now okay to start shooting people as long as they weren't from Michigan.

Just get everyone from Flint, Detriot, and Saginaw down by the border and we'll be straight. The Yoopers can take care of them selves.

NY would win. We're basically the financial capital of the world. and great minds from all different countries come and work here. It takes more than just a bomb to win a war

I think Texas would be the toughest if it was truly a individual state vs. individual state but, in today's political climate, it would take about 5 seconds for everyone to gang up on us and pretty much kick our arse.

Vermont has incredibly rugged terrain and is therefor highly defensible, not to mention we can get allies from the north with canada. Us green mountain boys can put up a fight.

I'd make sure that Indiana would put up a good fight. About an hour and a half north of me is a VX storage facility with a Air National Guard base. Could make some nice bombing runs with those. Not to mention whatever i could raid from the Crane Naval Warfare Base.

The folks in Wyoming would have to disagree. 150 Minuteman III and 50 MX silos for a total of 950 warheads (unless the SALT II reductions have been completed, then 200 warheads total). Anyway, that's approximately one warhead per 500 people giving Wyoming the most heavily armed population on earth. Besides Wyoming has oil, gas, coal, some farming, and the secret advantage: When folks try to invade Wyoming they'll confuse it with that other rectangular state to the south and end up invading Colorado where the combination of rude drivers, bad sports teams, and worse beer will irritate the invaders into retreating.

Texas, hands down.

Nukes are irrelevant, except for the states that don't have them.
MAD anyone? Texas has nukes.

Bases are still important, they house the tools of war. Plus most bases are staffed by people local to the area. As mentioned Ft. Hood is mostly Texans, so yeah some will go back to their home states, but not many. It's not like a % of the base moves.

CA wouldn't last long w/o power and oil.

Texas wouldn't even need to attack for a long while. Let everyone bleed themselves dry of resources first.

IIRC they also have the most USA military bases and weapon factories. Of course, California and New York are probably a bit more wealthy.

REgardless of where the silos are... the keys and buttons to launch them are in DC. U r skrud.

Whoever can get control of the mississippi/ohio/allegheny river + the 5 great lakes will win.

Texas without a doubt. I wish I could say Georgia where I'm from but we would run out of fuel very quickly and probably has more trained marksmen than any other state in the country. That's what we like to call a win-win situation for Texas, and is exactly why Mexico would never try to attack via the border....lol

All the MX silos have been deactivated, IIRC. The MMIIIs have been reduced to single warheads as well with many now mounting the W87 from the MX.

KY would win. Kentuckians are too lazy to venture out to others states, so when the other states come in for a fight, they'll either get lost (recent survey had 60% of high school student placing KY either next to Texas or below Virginia), get trapped in TN (because everyone knows UT sucks), or get picked off by a sniper thinking they're either a re'venor (Fed agents that bust up illegal stills), or a scab crossing the picket line.
Plus we have more tanks than Canada!

New York has more financial resources then all the other states combined. We could buy nukes and hire mercenaries But if it came down to population vs population, with little prep time, Texas would win, without a doubt.
